I think Dirrell was about to stopped anyway. His skills impressed me but he didn't look like he had enough left in the 10th round. I think mentally he becomes a punk when he's pressured like that, but I can't say he faked it. He got hit in the temple and his head wipped around. Abraham's punches are naturally looping as well so it was a powerful shot

find me another knockout where the punch lands on the jaw, and the fighter holds their temple like that....please, dig away on youtube. Cause i've never seen that before.

Nowhere did i suggest that a punch that lands on the jaw cannot have painful repercussions on the entire head. But the way Dirrell held his temple is something i haven't seen in a boxing ring too many times, and would imo point to serious injury. It is now clear Dirrell has not sustained any serious injury, thank god....which therefore points to overanimation/play-acting imo

I don't know...I want to give Dirrell the benefit of the doubt, and I did before, but I do have to wonder after the test results from the hospital ruled out a concussion.

Jermain Taylor had a "severe concussion" from the Abraham fight. Don't you find it suspicious that the hospital ruled out a concussion after Dirrell was twitching on the canvas and then seemed so disoriented and out of it?

Maybe those in the medical field can shed some more light on it.

I'm confused. Are you now disputing that Dirrell was hit by Abraham while sitting down?

He was hit in the jaw. It's on tape. Unless you feel the footage is doctored.

Lets assume you grant that he was hit in the jaw. So, you're saying, he was faking it and even though he was hit in the jaw he touched his head? What on earth?

If he was acting, wouldn't he have held his jaw? That would be the obvious thing to do. But instead, his acting instincts told him to touch his head?

Your theory is bizarre and incoherent.

Of course not. I'm not blind!!

I don't see what's so hard to understand. His acting wasn't that great.

Abraham was bang out of order and deserved to be DQ'd. He then completely lost my respect with his post-fight comments.

Dirrell? Well, I think he chose the exit door, though he had every right to make 1000% sure the fight ended there and then. But he hammed it up hard. I was watching the fight seriously worried for the guys health, the next thing i know he doesn't even have a concussion. Pffffff

Nobody is honestly putting Dirrell above faking it, and I think even the ko-proponents have some tiny doubts about what happened.

This will always stay with him now.

Of course he had a concussion. Absolute 100% chance. Please read up on it and come back a little less ignorant.

    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concussion[/ame]

Head injury followed by loss of consciousness (check), confusion (check) and post-traumatic amnesia (check). That's what a concussion is. That's the definition. He had a concussion.

    pfff.

Repeated concussions open the door for more affects on the brain but that's irrelevant here. Dirrell acted his way to a DQ. Abraham hit him with much harder shots than that one that brought the DQ and Dirrell didn't flinch. Conversely, Taylor was out cold with extended arms which is very reminiscent of concussion victims.

He was tired from throwing so many punches and instead of letting Abraham take over and risk getting knocked out he found a way out of the fight. It's that simple. He played it up to get Cole to stop the fight.

What I don't understand is how people can say, "Dirrell knew he was losing, he was about to get knocked out. It would have happened any second with a single punch!" and then turn around to say, "that single punch he took from the notoriously powerful Abraham while he was on the ground and completely unprotected couldn't have possibly knocked him out. He was perfectly fine and clearly faking". You can't have it both ways.

Either Abraham is a dangerous, murderous puncher who could have taken Dirrell out at any point with a single punch, or he's not. If he's not, then he was clearly one round and one minute away from a dominanting points loss. And if he is, then why is it so hard to believe that he indeed knocked out Dirrell with a single shot, especially under circumstances where Dirrell was in THAT vulnerable a position?

Thinking this through, after initially thinking that Abraham didn't mean to do it, but then watching the replays over and over and seeing the amount of time Abraham had to decide to throw that punch, I think he figured he was hopelessly behind on points, and figured having a point deducted wasn't a big deal if it meant he could get in one huge, free shot and hurt Dirrell enough with that huge shot to finish him off "legitimately" by building on the illegal shot. That's why doing that is grounds for immediate disqualification - it's too easy for a puncher/slugger to take advantage of.
