    Pretty sure Jake LaMotta, Rocky Graziano, Carmen Basilio, Jack Britton, etc are 'white'.

    Historically, it has to be New York, if only because of Stillwells. The city used to churn out boxers like crazy back then.

    These days, who knows. I don't think location is particularly important, other than that if you're growing up in some places, it's less likely you'll get good opponents when you're younger.

    This is true. Pre WW II days, many boxers came from east of the Mississippi, especially NY. Post war, many came from the midwest like Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Florida. Now California will probably pump out more, especially with Mexican-American contributions.

    Of course Europe now is entering their Golden Age, dominating the heavier classes. But that is a separate topic all together.

    He moved to Philly when he was like 14. He also learned how to box in Philly. Had he stayed in SC, he would've probably eneded up as a farmer or something.:smoke
