Butterbean found like 70 bums before the gig was up. It's possible to keep the gig going for at least 5 or 6 years.
Are you Rahman's accountant? Maybe he wants to keep fighting cause he enjoys it. Maybe he's trying to finance his sons future career.
Give Pong a serious pass, at those lower weight classes its like taking a step back in time to the era of Ray Robinson and those old school fighters where they essentially had sparing sessions count as real fights.
I agree with Vargasfan, some of you guys are completely over-reacting to this. Rahman is just shaking off some rust, nothing that countless other fighters coming back have done in the past and will continue to do in the future.
Yeah, I don't hold it against him. Any of them, really. Two men consent to some battle, let it go. It's their business. I don't have to buy a ticket or anything. But I'll be the first to run 'em down and bring it up for taking soft touches if they start complaining about not getting their dues or fans or on a p4p list, or what have you.
Rahman is no spring chicken, and the last fight he was in was 2 year ago, when he was KOed effortlessly in a one sided fight.. Not only that, Rahman has done nothing to fight anyone in the top 15 let alone the top 10.. He was lucky to have even gotten this fight and thats real talk.. No one paying to see Rahman fight these days. He's not even a prospect gate keeper ..
He will never be champion again unless he fights Ruiz or Haye, but he is a good fighter still and this is a good win. Confidence builder.
He may not even go for a title. His manager said a while back the original plan was to take a tune up, fight Tua, then get a farewell fight with maybe Holyfield. It sounds like he wants to avenge a few losses and go home.
