Oscar was an excellent fighter. What I admire most about him is, he fought everyone. With his level of popularity, he could easily have cherry-picked his opponents and still made a lot of money. The fact he consistently sought out the biggest challenges tells you something about his character. I think he was at his best when he was at 135 and 140. He still had murderous power to go with his speed when he was at those weights. I also think going with Floyd Sr was a bad move. I felt he was never really suited to the style Floyd imposed on him. He tried to force the Mayweather style on him, instead of developing a style that suited Oscars strengths. That savage left hook he used to throw with abandon and his ability to go for the finish seemed to dissipate under Floyd. He won a lot of big fights, lost several too but he always fought the best. If more fighters had that mentality, boxing would be better off.
so you are saying his wins over rafel ruelas, john john molina, jorge paez,an genero hernandez werent **** just throwem out the window yea you must be a boxing purest get a clue know what you are talking about before you knock someone with surefire hall of fame resume
YEP!!!!:good I've been trying to get this through to these mu****as for years but their coochie just stays wet for oscar.
here we go!!!!! people always bringing up these bums just to try to add some fluff to oscars win columns. Its so predictable.:--(
That's fair but put it this way, he had six losses, whereas out of his 45 fights...26 were against former, current and future world champions. Six losses, all to ATG level fighters...Six losses but having defeated 19 world champions on twenty occasions. Most controversial win was probably in his sixth weight class, where he was not natural and would not stay. Only two of those six losses were truly decisive and one he was in horrible shape and fighting a top 50 ATG, the other was attempting to become a linear champion in his sixth weight class, against a top ten all time middleweight and future light heavyweight champion. He lost but how many modern guys even would have attempted that? Would Floyd Mayweather even try Kelly Pavlik, let alone Bernard Hopkins? The man had a legendary career. Is he a douche bag? Inconsequential to his rating.
That was a great, close fight.... and it was in Oscar's 4th weight division. Oscar was never the same after he was robbed against Tito. His love for boxing clearly dwindled and was only a part time fighter after that point. However, he was already an ATG before he even fought Tito. I saw earlier that you mentioned Oscar lost all of his big fights... so I don't expect you to be able to understand much though. Obviously beating All Time Greats like Chavez and Whitaker while they are reigning Champions isn't a big win by your amazing standards. Neither are wins over Hernandez (undefeated), Gonzalez (undefeated), Quartey (undefeated), Vargas, Molina, Camacho, Mayorga, ect.... I would go on but this is obviously going to be a pointless debate with you.
96-1 then-current champion Chavez who was about 33-34 was in a walker? Are you ****ing high? Who's the master? I said...Who...is the master, Leroy?
De La Hoya's style was his attraction , style and mentality , tell me who De La Hoya went in there with and didnt try to finish ???? , they guy was a warrior a terrific fighter and had some big balls , he took one huge fight after the next over a long period . I think his peak was Trinidad , thats just my opinion .
bums you obviously dont know your history all multiple champions an elite level when he beat them facts are facts an i dont like oscar
Is Oscar a fraud?!?!? Sho'Nuff Did Oscar lose ALL of his biggest fights?!?!? Sho'Nuff Is oscar an overrated one handed fighter?!?!?! Sho'Nuff Is the best thing that mu****a ever done was win Gold?!?!?! Sho'Nuff
