Brit Forum - Are we becoming too elitist?

I have noticed a growing trend of newer posters complaining that they aren't getting a fair shake of things within the Brit Forum, and there have also been references made to an "elite group" of experienced posters who club together and basically dictate how things should be done within the forum. I suppose its natural that a poster who has been here quite a long time, and who has gained the respect and friendship of other posters (post count and join date don't always guarantee this btw), should hold a certain amount of power within the Forum. But is this power being used as a club to beat newer posters with? I have always been an advocate of the old "bully the **** poster until he ****s off to the general forum" policy, but this was always aimed at obvious trolls who were just posting to get a rise and annoy people. However, are we being too hard on some of the newer posters, some of whom do have a lot to offer?

Do you think this is a true representation of where we have come to within the forum?

Is this something new or has it pretty much always been this way?

General thoughts please. Be good to hear from a cross-section of the Forum on this one, the newer posters as well as the older ones.

Think some are perhaps receiving a bit of harsh treatment.

The ESB Brit forum was a LOT harder to "get in to" when I started posting here around 2005. You DID have to have thick skin back then, todays situation isn't even close.

Posted this in the other thread but its relevant here.

The reality is that some people will join here just to have a pop at fighters they don't like. Khan also gets it a lot........I can't be arsed with it myself, I'm very tolerant and easy going in "real life" and try and I carry it through on the forum but when people just come on with the sole intention of moaning, **** stirring and generally trying to disrupt the forum and **** up the discussion of boxing then I'm happy if they get "weeded out".

Strange, I joined after yourself and thought it was a lot more easy going than it is now. However, I served my apprenticeship in the GF, which I think a few who joined at the same time as me did as well. Didn't come in here until I had a few posts under my belt - this wasn't deliberate, just the way it worked out for me.

    Thats just Dan.

I believe he is the reigning "Hater of the Year" champion, having usurped long running supremo Betty. That should tell you something.

    No offence Dan.:hey

That's true too. Anyway, I voted yes. I do think people are too quick to call someone a "****" for the most ridiculous reasons while at the same time complaining about the general forum.

You get other strange **** too, like people were getting upset when someone asked an innocent question about why Darren Sutherland commited suicide. Chill out man, dude's not being disrespectful or nuthing. In the Hatton sham thread some dude said the TS came across as a ****? Wtf? how? some strange **** I tell ya.

**** happens on every forum though, it's not like the brit forum is any worse than a forum on spark plugs or dyson vacuum leaners but there you go. You got pricks here like everywhere else. What can you do? I have a rant every once in a while but I sometimes get called a **** for it:lol: take it easy and be approachable and respectful, you know heal the world and all that ****? It's nice.

    I could well believe it.

Just think we might be getting back to that situation again.
