That was the first one to come to my mind. Leonard was reportedly being frustrated too and behind on the cards when he pulled that as well.

Yeah, I've always considered that a very shady win.
Some say Buchanan asked for it by hitting Duran after the bell, but I dont think two wrongs make a right, and I'm not convinced Buchanan fouled deliberately.
The referee didn't even call it a foul, and even if he had under NY rules a fighter cannot lose a fight on a foul (at that time), only a round.
Buchanan only claimed that the fight should have been called a no-contest.

But what really leaves a sour taste is that Ken Buchanan was never granted a rematch.
And Buchanan was a lot better than the other Lightweights around at the time, regardless of his right to a rematch on such controversy.

I cant see any good argument from the Duran-worshippers that could make any of it an honorable win or chapter in his career.
Although clearly Duran fought a great fight for the most part of those 13 rounds.

I see Hurtado went on to win the fight as well!

Terry Norris waas always prone to being a bit over anxious. Aside from the Joe Walker DQ, watch his bout with Ray Leonard. When he drops Leonard he immediately follows it up with a shot while Leonard is down. It depends on how strict the Ref is. In England, the ref immediately DQ'd Colin Jones for clipping Curtis Ramsey while down. Jones was the man on the way up but they took no nonsense from even their own, yet Bowe was allowed a NC instead of being DQ'd outright. So, a lot depends on the officials.

Yeah i was surprised no one made a stink about it, especially occuring after humberto soto was dq'd against fransico lorenzo for a late punch while he was down.

Yeah because of the starling bout, didnt that create the rule for the 10 second bell?

I dunno, I posted the clip on the previous page and Cottos knee only just touched down as Margarito punched him. It was also following a few more punches so its not like he stopped, waited a while then him him again.

I think most people were more shocked at Cotto taking such a beating as to being hit when he was down.

I remember, sometime in 1997, Louis Monaco knocked Buster Douglas out cold while Douglas was either on his knees, or else it was after the bell, I believe....one or the other. Douglas got the win by DQ and probably stayed far away from Monaco thereafter.

Yes it was a shot after the bell. The bell rang Douglas dropped his hands and Monaco knocked him out. Douglas was out on the ropes, and they DQ'd Monaco.
