mcvey Emerson said a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds
This was one of the more notorious robbery's in old time boxing

    But if you want more

    "New York -Mike McTigue .
who lost the worlds lightweight(sic) box-
ing title to Paul Berlenbach last
    summer, has earned another chance
at the crown by his defeat of the
    sensational negro Tiger Flowers of
Atlanta, in the Christmas fund bouts
in Madison Squpne Garden , Wednesday
    night.
    McTilgue always admired for his
    defensive expertnesses came out of
his shell against Flowers, and turned
back as good as he received. He was
a different McTigue from the man
    who kept away from Rerienhach
during a slow contest in which the
    title passed last summer.
But many at the ringside believed
that the negro had gained the verdict
    bv his constant lashing out
which time and again drove the former
    champion to cover."

BTW the ref gave it to Tiger, the two judges to Mike.
IMO Loughran beats Tiger every time but I can live with other views but on the substantive issue it hurts his standing a little that he never fought a black fighter, old Norfolk, Gainer, Fox, Lewis, Siki, Lewis, Fox, Gains, Godfrey, Unknown Winstone were just some of the good fighters he missed out on, none is stand-out but all of 'em....NAH!
If he had an opponent of Will's like stature it would have hurt him more, because i'm sure he wouldn't have fought him. However anyone that fought Baer, Carnera, Loughran, Sharkey, Greb and Tunney had nothing to fear from the black opponents at that time.

Actually, by GMT, it was yesterday, and I did not get schooled ,I asked for proof ,and finally you provide it!
I will happily accept this last report, for what it worth, [ jack ****] ,and, just between us ,I couldn't give a **** who won it, I just didn't like your attitude.
The rest of your quote is
"adored by statesmen and philosophers and divines".
It does not scan , and , is inferior to this.
" Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative"
From which it was probably lifted.
That was written by Oscar Fingal O'Flaherty Wills Wilde.
Who also said . " Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit"
    Nota Bene!

Greb beat him once, and lost to him twice in debatable circumstances , when he was patently past his best. Loughran ,like Tunney ,looked better as he matured against Greb. Stop with that patronising drivel ,you come on like Mendoza.
I think after digging around for a favourable report for Flowers ,you came across these articles in favour of McTigue ,but neglected to mention them, some would say that was being economical with the truth .

    Slakka ,youv'e been slacking.

    :nono:nono:nono:nonoNaughty Naughty.
