Andre "SOG" Ward vs Andre "The Matrix" Dirrell

Both fighters present the most difficult challenges they'll face in the tournament stylistically. I think Ward wins as I was incredibly impressed with how he imposed his will on the inside against Kessler (granted that may be because Kessler seemed clueless inside), has Dirrell faced that kind of inside fighter in his career? Froch and Abraham prefer to be outside. I think Ward wins a tight but clear decision, could be wrong though.

 

:good I think Ward is a very special fighter, a wonderful blend of RJJ and Hopkins. I think he would outspeed Dirrell to a UD.

Agreed. Dirrell has a lot more natural talent than Ward overall, but Ward is a much better and smarter fighter technically. At this point in their careers, I favor Ward, though I still think Dirrell has the higher upside.

 

Ward roughs him up bad on the inside. Ward is the smarter fighter and will win a close but clear UD

I'd have to spend some time looking at tape to make an accurate call on this one due to styles. Ward is a much tighter package, but because both fighters are young athletic types tics and habits play a big factor in the outcome. Ward doesn't have the equalizing power to make this overtly apparent. The biggest problem with Dirrell is his tendency to keep his hands low and pull out with his chin in the clouds.

What I didn't take into account when I did this analysis is ring intelligence, and in that regard Ward is not only superior to Dirrell, but might be the best in the sport right now.

 

Both fighters have surprised me, especially dirrell. Dirrel is more elusive but Ward will be quicker than both Abraham and Froch, he is the bigger hitter too. Dirrell tires in latter rounds. I give this to Ward.

I would have to say Ward UD although i will be rooting for Dirrell as he got a fan in me after his fight with Arthur.
