If Pacquiao retires and then comes back, where would you rate him P4P?

    I'm curious.

Let's say Manny wins the election and he retires without fighting Floyd or Shane. Let's say that he's gone for 2 years, but then he comes back in 2012. In the meantime Floyd beats Cotto, Clottey, and Shane. Where do you rank Pacquiao p4p upon his return?

Would not rank him until i see his first fight and who it is against. Could not go number 1 though due to the people that Floyd has beaten while he was retired.

He won't be ranked until he fights someone in his class.

It's a public poll. Just click on the number of votes for a breakdown.

Lets say that Manny wins the election but gets caught up in election fraud scandal and the results are overturned 6 months later and he has to go to trial but the judge in the case dies before sentencing due to suspicious circumstances. In the meantime Mayweather draws with Mosely and there is a rematch scheduled but Floyd has to pull out the week of the fight due to mononucleosis so Mosely fights Cotto but can't make the catchweight of 145 lbs. and has to give up part of his purse. Oh yeah...and Clottey is elected president of Ghana.

Where does Pacquiao, Mayweather, Mosely and Clottey all stand in the P4P rankings. :patsch

Also who is the first defensive lineman taken in the 2014 NFL draft?

If Mayweather was beating solid opposition in the meantime, e.g. Berto, Williams, Bradley etc, then Pacquiao would slot into number 2, but only after coming back against a top-tier fighter.

I would rank him at Top 5. Mayweather fought Marquez who was the #2p4p LIGHTWEIGHT and went up to welterweight, a weight class he has no business fighting in. Right after Floyd beat Marquez he became #2 for a lot. Personally that was way too gracious. Sure he retired unbeaten but when he left there were a lot of those who he should have fought.

If Pacquiao comes back and fought a tune up fight against a lesser opponent then he will be in the #5 since he did beat Cotto and a Mandatory Challenger for the WBO belt, a true WW Clottey.

If Pacquiao fought lets say a very dangerous ranked WW, and depends on how he beat the guy and the way PBF has been performing, given that Floyd destroys all legit boxers IN HIS OWN WEIGHT CLASS, ( not bringing up lightweights up to WW ) then Pacquiao would be ranked #2 until he beats Floyd.

I think it would depend on a number of factions, namely the quality of fighters when he came back.

I mean, I don't think if you have Floyd as #2 or #3 or whatever when he comes back after being generally looked at as #1 before "retiring", then I don't see how you can rate Manny at #1 (assuming you have him as #1 before).

I think you have to consider several factors.

    1. (as mentioned) quality of fighters out.
    2. Condition and shape Manny was in.
    3. How long Manny's been out.
    4. How Manny's previous fight went.

    And to explain:

    1. If Manny leaves as a consensus #1 (for argument's sake here), then you have to decide whether or not when he comes back if anyone else has risen up and dominated and overwhelmingly become the #1 guy. I don't know if you give him the "emeritus" status like some Alphabet organizations do, where as soon as he comes back he's automatically champ again.

Especially with something as subjective as P4P.

    2. How good did he take care of himself? Did he let himself go, and is now just getting back into shape? Is he coming back like Bernard or Evander where at least physically speaking they're nearly ALWAYS in shape and getting into shape won't be a problem?

    3. The length of time that he would be retired. If it's a few months, or even a couple (two) years, then that'd be something to debate, putting him back at #1, but if it's going on 3, 4 or 5 years, then you start to consider that.

    4. Was his last fight a war that put him down? Like Erik Morales last fight, or something like that, or was it a fairly easy win that he just walked off into the sunset with? Something that he could have kept going, but chose to walk away.

I think all those things are needed to be taken into consideration. It's not something you just kneejerk say "yes" or "no"

Then again, the whole idea of P4P is subjective anyway, so....who knows?
