If Oscar would have won all of his fights, I would have him at number 1 all time great. Which speaks volumes about the level of opposition he consistently faced... Still though, the fights he did win and his credentials easily make him one of the greatest fighters of his generation.

If Oscar retires immediately after the Shane rematch, he'd be damn near unimpeachable in his worthiness for HOF/ATG status. There'd be none of the stupid BS you hear now - or at least far less of it.

That would be a final record of 36-3, with only close decision losses to Tito (who he handed the win to late) and Shane (who some feel he beat one of those times). Wins over at least a dozen very good/great fighters. Titles in just as many weight classes, from 130 to 154.

All he's missing if you clip it down is one good win (Mayorga..."beating" Sturm didn't serve his legacy and neither did picking on little Stevie Forbes). Honestly, sacrificing that one good win to instead cap off his pro career after 11 years does him a WORLD of good and removes all doubt as to whether he deserves a high all-time ranking. Fighting Nard was stupid, and FMJ and MP were both prime top p4p talents who he only fought for the money.

Oh, I wouldn't call fighting Hopkins stupid. I thought it was one of the ballsiest things he ever did. And he had one of the judges going into the round of the leeever shot. Maybe one of ten he could have gotten the job done. Imagine that. A former Super Featherweight titlist becoming the linear MW champ against an ATG middleweight? I say it was worth it. Anyone can go out the way he did on that shot. Doesn't detract for me.

 

Delahoya has actually become underrated. One of the elite fighters of his era.
I disagree about him becoming more well rounded with Floyd sr who i think is overrated as a trainer. Even his ROger says "my brother couldnt train a dog" I like think El professor taught him alot i think ODLH learned a little from everyone,if he never met Floyd Sr he still would have been the same fighter.
