Hopkins the bigot is at it again

Hopkins answering a question on Monday's conference call about the upcoming Jones fight:

" ... And if I’m not mistaken, I was off eight or nine months before I beat up Kelly Pavlik who’s the Great White Hope 17 years younger than me..."

This guy is obsessed with race and clearly hates white people (remember his comment to Calzaghe - "I'll never let a white boy beat me"?)

I know plenty of other bigots and racists will be quick to defend him (mostly with name calling or simple-minded irrelevancies, since that's all they have), but does anyone in boxing actually have the guts to say he's a bigot and a racist?

 

If you want to hate on Bernard for what he says outside of the ring, that's fine by me. Those comments are racist and inflammatory. Now what?

He's telling the truth though, why do you think Pavlik got more attention that expected even though he barely had enough good wins?, because he's a white American, that all alone sells easily. He's not being offensive, at least I hope not. Feel free to revisit:

I am a big hopkins fan and probably the most stereotypical redneck around.
hopkins' comments dont bother me and I will continue to be a fan.
and he is pretty derisive to all his opponents, regardless of ethnicity

Well he is wanting to fight Haye after Jones tell him to fight a Klitschko instead. Don't be like Roy Jones and handpick the weakest beltholder.

The Calzaghe comment was obviously something he did to sell the fight, because you know people are racist and don't take kindly to uppity black guy saying those type of things. You can disagree about it being a tactic is poor taste, but don't blame him for being the "racist".

 

How is a guy who is the legit Middleweight Champion a 'White Hope'? 'White Hopes' were contenders not champions Hopkins does not even know what he is talking about. :roflatsch

To be fair he was the great white hope in america it seemed, and he did beat his arse stupid.
