I already answered that question on this thread, so I'll paste my post below: And so on to your next point: It wasn't an anomaly. In fact, it can't have been. An anomaly means a freak result, but Froch posted wins over Taylor and Dirrell afterwards. I could accept someone saying it was an anomaly if it was a one shot KO out of the clear blue sky, or a horrible call by the judges after Pascal had beaten Froch up, or if Pascal had looked ill or out of shape and had performed terribly - but none of these are remotely true. Pascal brung it, and fought like a warrior. He was simply beaten by the better man on the night, fair and square. It was an indication of Froch's qualities, it was most certainly not a win that can be lowballed or written off in any way IMO. His defence is indeed awful... when he allows it to be. When he drops his hands, he gets hit, often and cleanly. But this is only the case when Froch chooses to make it so. When he has to defend, and when he has to box cleverly, he is able to do so to a decent degree. It's not like he is just a wide-open windmiller at all times, he drops his hands sometimes to draw his opponent out and I agree it's a stupid and pointless tactic, I mentioned this in my starting post, but it's the tactic that's awful, not Froch's ability to defend himself. When he has to defend, he can. If he couldn't, he wouldn't have a zero and hold wins over top notch guys like his last three opponents. This is hyper-critical IMO. Again as I acknowledged in post number 1, he is flawed. But he's not as weak in these areas as you are making out. His mentality is admirable, no doubt about that. But his boxing abilities are better than you are giving him credit for. When he wants to box, he can box. He is a formidable force. This is a little bit silly. Jermain Taylor and Andre Dirrell are skilled boxers, and Froch is 2-0(1) vs them. I agree that quick slick boxers are a bad style match-up for Carl and will give him problems, but if he continues to "either get lucky or found out every time" as he has done, he will also continue to keep his zero, won't he!? Don't get me wrong, I said in the 1st post that I strongly favour Ward to beat him should they meet, but that's because Ward looks like an exceptional boxer who is both quick and slick. Any quick slick fighter wouldn't beat Froch, that has already been proven.
So Dirrell was green AND robbed :rofl Green - Not imo, it was AA's style that allowed him to look good and open up throwing lots of punches, couldn't do that against Froch. When Ward dumps him on his ass we'll see just how far he's come from when he was 'green'. Robbed - Again, wrong. Controversial sure, it was a SD afterall, I scored it a draw or Dirrel by one. But how about looking at others posts/scoring rather than banging the same old drum. Esb is probably 50/50 on this matter, nowhere near what could be considered 'robbed'.
He is very underrated by the Americans on here because he schooled their great black hope Andre Dirrell. Dirrell was so thoroughly outclassed that the only positive his fans can take out of the Froch fight is the one clean punch he landed in the 10th that supposedly rocked Froch. After Dirrell tasted Froch's power early he visibly trembled with fear and cowered on the canvas anytime Froch got within punching range Froch's toughness and willingness to fight the best has earned him great respect from real boxing fans just as his punching power and tenacity earn him instant respect from his opponents.
Great post. I'm not the biggest Froch fan, I guess I do like to see him win along with everyother British boxer. He shows heart, determination and strength in every bout. He comes for a war and rarely steps back. I think he may edge past Kessler, but will have some trouble against slick boxers in the future.
lol, you don't stand toe to toe with pascal and win a descision by luck, you don't battle for 12 rounds and the ko taylor either through luck.
I've only actually seen Froch fight the one time against Dirrell and, as we saw with Abraham, Dirrell could probably give any fighter problems so it's no black mark against him. I had Dirrell beating Froch handily though(hard to give round for non-effective aggressiveness) . I'd actually like to see some of Froch's past fights as he seems to have a pleasing style and am VERY looking forward to him and Abraham going at it.
Froch outclassed Dirrell atsch . Froch missed wildly and was countered the entire fight. Froch skills are very limited and are clearly the worst in the entire tournament. The guy is horrible at cutting off the ring. His lateral movement is slow. His hand speed is slow. His defense is as bad as Margarito's relying on his chin to take lots of punishment rather than moving out of the way or blocking the shots. Froch is a KO waiting to happen.
Why couldnt he do that against Froch? Froch is less defensively sound and less powerful then AA. Actually after the fight the majority of ESB had Dirrell winning. The majority of the Brit forum aswell. And if you believe Froch won the fight. Post your scorecard. I havent seen one Froch fan even attempt to defend their scoring.
He got a last second KO stoppage of Jermain Taylor who has a propensity to gas. Even then Taylor is no slickster. He fights like a the stereotypical European. Does everything well, nothing great. Against Andre Dirrell he got a gift in his hometown, largely because of Dirrells actions not his. he struggled to land any punches and when dirrell did open up he had him hurt. Froch's "0" wont last the year.
