Think about the stylistic matchup in this one? Gatti was beaten mostly by guys that tried to outbox him and stop him later from distance. Hatton would slug with him. The fights also at welterweight which Gatti in my opinion would hold a big advantage in as he was a big junior middle but a **** welterweight as was Hatton. Bombs fly in this one, Gattis lefthook could be a big factor.

haha arguing about letter to award fighters funny
Hatton only lost to the absolute best gatti got beaten by lesser fighters and syle wise they match up well gatti wasnt slick enough to keep hatton away and struggled with body punches at times and hatton had a great chin up untill his stint at 147 and having bigger guys banging away at hime

Hatton by TKO in the middle rounds.

After both fighters have tasted the canvas, Gatti more than once, Hatton's cut and bleeding bad but rough's up Gatti on the inside well begins to work the body as Gatti tries to fight his way off the ropes Hatton caches him with a left hook that drops Gatti for the count he gets up but his legs are shakey. Referee Kenny Baylis calls a holt to the contest at 2.07 of round 7 in the FOTY

What a fight that would have been.

Gatti was just not good. Plain and simple. Hatton's only two losses came to the two best fighters of this generation. Gatti lost to Angel Manfredy, Mickey Ward, and Ivan Robinson. Hatton pounds him simply because he's a much higher calibre of fighter.

    This.

Ricky at 147 would be slower than Arturo, IMO. 140 Would be a better weight for this one.

    Gatti has more heart.

    Ricky has equal power.

Gatti I have seen stand back and box on more occasions than Ricky.

When in trouble they resort to their natural style... come forward and bang.

I think it could go either way, Ricky getting Gatti in cut trouble and the fight stopping or Arturo digging in and bringing it at 150% and out working Ricky.

It would be an awesome fight, and the winner would depend on the night.

You know that Hatton is getting a raw deal when people are picking against him in H2H matchups with Gatti.

Who exactly did Gatti beat, either in styles or ability, to suggest he wouldn't be belted by Hatton?

Hatton, with Gatti's opposition, would probably be 47-2 - losing only to DLH & Mayweather. Gatti vs Hattons...... Floyd, Pac, Collazo, Tszyu, Phillips, Urango and Malignaggi all beat him.

At 147? I am going to go with the Gatti that fought Mayweather vs the Hatton that fought Mayweather, and Hatton wins that match-up 11 out of 10 times at 147, Gatti wasn't supposed to go higher than 140 in his career.

Hattons not that much better. What do Ivan Robinson and Manfredy have in common besides being below 140?
Ward was a tough nut to crack by anyone. Stylistically I would give him a shot at Hatton too because Hatton wouldnt be able to KO him and would be right there in front of him. Its more of a stylistic thing and I believe Gattis stronger than Hatton, especially at 147.

For some reason my gut is saying Gatti. I think Gatti's one punch KO power would be a huge factor.

Hatton only lost to not only the two best fighters of the last decade but two fighters who, when all is said and done, are nailed on p4p top 50 of all time with a shout at being top 20 depending on what they do in their last few fights. He convincingly beat fighters better than those who were able to beat Gatti. Anyone picking Gatti to win this one is either a huge Gatti fan or is looking at Hatton's career in a ridiculously revisionist way.

The CompuBox stats are almost identical between their Mayweather fights.

Keep in mind Ricky lasted 9 good rounds, Gatti was trounced in 6 before Buddy threw in the towel.

I watched both fights, and Ricky controlled the tempo and at least had a chance.... prior to walking into a perfect left hook...then face planting into the turnbuckle.

Gatti was soundly thrashed for 6 rounds prior to Buddy throwing in the towel.

    CompuBox Punchstats

    Mayweather Hatton

Hatton, easily. Gatti was a hell of a fighter but not near the level of Hatton.

Wouldn't call that almost identical. Mayweather managed to land more on Gatti in 6 rounds, than he did to Hatton in 10 rounds, Mayweather also managed to set a whooping 57% accuracy rate on Gatti vs only 39% on Hatton. Its clear as day Gatti is so much more open than Hatton.
