Morales is slightly above....Head to head they are offically 1-2 with Barrera with the edge but all the fights could have gone any way. Morales has the better resume, and was better when things werent going his way...also defeated fighters Barrera struggled with and got snubbed for his 4th world title

Son, I would urge you to actually WATCH the replay in better resolution and camera angles than are usually available online. Feel free to reply, but I'm not continuing this repartee as I've noticed you have 10+ posts per day, I make it a policy to not hold conversations with people with that much online time on their hands.

Nothing personal, just a policy of mine. :hi:

Barrera's and Morales all 3 fights were too damn close to make a judgement based on that epic trilogy..[maybe the 1st two then the 3rd encounter] but barrera really did get wrecked vs jones and pacquiao and that was years ago..whereas Morales didnt get his butt beaten convincingly until he was REALLY past it..if Morales gets that 4 title...[without getting screwed by the judges diaz fight] it SHOULD put a stamp on it but [ i already have Erik ahead though]..

but i got a feeling barrera fans may not give credit where its due and this discussion may go on forever..if people are foolish enough to give barrera the nod based on the trilogy then i think theres no way those same people are gonna give erik credit if wins his fourth title like he should have against diaz...

I can gauge by that post alone that you have no intention of hearing other people's viewpoints and so therefore this discussion can no longer serve a purpose.

You think I'm foolish for putting stock in Marco Antonio Barrera's two victories over Erik Morales?

Morales, by his own admission, said leading up to their rubber match that, "We are fighting again to prove who the best is, once and for all". I think how both fighters dealt with Junior Jones is actually a minute factor in the context of their whole careers. It's a testament to the character and fighting spirit of Marco that he was able to reconstruct his career after such a demoralizing defeat. Styles make fights, and that cliche was never proven to be more true than in the case of Jones/Barrera.

Do I have any arguments with people considering Erik to be the more accomplished combatant based on his victory over Pacquiao in '05? Absolutely not, but I think to say those who have Barrera higher are "foolish" is outlandish to say the least.

As a side note, from my experiences as a Boxing fan and member of Eastside Boxing, the only fan-base that is bitter about the whole thing are Morales fans. Bill_Butcher is the most passionate fan of Erik on the board in my judgment, and he will openly admit to being bitter or at least should given some of his comments about Marco over the last 2-3 years.

Barrera even ranked morales higher than himself in all time mexican fighters.

Indeed he did, and Marco is entitled to his opinion.

Fighters aren't generally an authority on this sort of thing, otherwise we'd all rate Lennox Lewis as the greatest Heavyweight of all time because George Foreman said so. I think it's very admirable for Marco to hold Morales in such high esteem considering everything that went on, but the feud was squashed after the second fight as far as Marco was concerned. I fear that Erik Morales will go to the grave hating on his bitter rival. Together they left their mark on Mexican Boxing history.

Good post Addie. What's MAB been up to? Do you think he'll come back for a fourth fight

There were whispers about him supposedly taking on Moses for a strap at Lightweight but I hope that doesn't happen.
