Then he would push the referee and snap your neck. I would just slip and pretend that my leg is twitching, prompting the ref to end the fight.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF7_O1ZFn98[/ame] From this angle it appears that Dirrell was legitimately knocked down by Abraham's jab and that the slip was the result of a punch. If it was an actual knockdown does it change the dynamic of what Abraham did? And can we say for sure Dirrell would have finished this fight on his feet if he had not slipped or took a knee? Yes Abraham broke the rules by punching Dirrell in that situation, but how many knockouts have we seen in Europe where something like being hit behind the head, or other fouls result in an actual knock out and it's not DQed? In Roy Jones vs Danny Green, Danny Green was deliberately hitting Roy Jones behind the head, multiple times, the ref did not step in, give a warning or take a point. Honestly if we had a better ref, the ref would have stepped in or it would have been handled better. It might even have been different if Dirrell were behind on the scorecards instead of ahead. If there should ever be a rematch this is one fight I want to see.
I think it was an actual knock down watching it again Abraham landed a jab immediately before the "slip", that officially makes it a knock down. Abraham should have just stopped like the ref said, I think Dirrell was one punch away from being knocked out.
Both. he was dancing and his footing went from underneath him but the punch landed at the same time which probly added to him being knocked down. Abraham threw a punch whether intentional or not was in motion. he was going for the knockout and got caught up in the heat of things and i believe that it could be a genuine accident on Arthurs part ( not nearly as blatant as roy jones' on montel griffin )
I give Direll shitload of credit for what he did for 9 rounds but I gotta be honest I think the chances that Abraham would knock him out in the 11th and 12th were 50/50. Either Direll survives by slipping 5 more times or he gets knocked out.
You could clearly see him slipping and a punch landing almost at the same time. You could also make an argument Arthur went down in one of the rounds, don't remember if it was the 7 or 8 round were it should had been counted as a knockdown. Dirrell also got away I believe in the 10th were you could also make an argument it was a knockdown, but wasn't rule as one.
What do you think of the following tactic, just out of curiosity. I just thought of it. I think it's brilliant. OK, here's how it goes. OK, every time your opponent hits you clean in the body, do the following: wince, look at the ref, open up your hands as if to say "what the ****?", and then yell "that's a low blow! low blow!" and stop fighting until the ref gives you some time to recover. I think it's brilliant! For the life of me I can't figure why nobody has ever used that tactic.
