    Here's an excerpt from an interview on M a x b o x i n g with Ryan Maquinana:

    RM: The two boxing greats who Manny’s been compared to as of late, due to his success in moving up multiple weight classes are Roberto Duran and Pernell Whitaker. How do you think Manny would match up with them at 135?


    FR: It’s tough to compare eras, of course. Pernell was a great boxer, and Manny has trouble with the counter-punching style a little bit, but I don’t think Pernell could stand the pressure. With Duran, I think Manny could beat him. Duran was a ballsy guy; he liked to fight, but, you know, “No Más” made me wonder if he had any quit in him. In the past, at [lightweight], I picked Duran to win, but this time I think Manny would win by decision now.

    RM: Your brother Pepper says the only guy who could beat Guillermo at 122 pounds is Israel Vazquez. Do you agree?


    FR: Guillermo would knock Israel out, and Israel’s one of my best friends. I’m sorry, Israel, but it’s true. (Laughs)

    so much for Roach saying Duran was better about a year ago. Did Roach really say this or is it another april fools?

    It is interesting that he changed his mind in the last year. But I agree with him. Manny is the goods and he might have outpointed Duran.

    or is roach losing it , pretty sure he said less than a year ago that duran was the better fighter

    Freddie Roach trained Vasquez in the first Marquez fight, and when Vasquez lost, before their rematch, Roach said Marquez would ebat Vasquez again. What happened to the great trainer Roach when he first trained Vasquez against Marquez? Where was he? Second, Vasquez won the rematch when Roach WASN'T in his corner.

    What Roach says about Sweetpea and Duran losing to PAc is comical lol... Freddie talks becuase he loves to hear and see himselfin interviews lol...
