was winning round 2? operative word is "winning" round 2. but tito was being boxed silly by that left hook. so i guess, I am correct that tito could have won only at most 2 rounds in the first 9 rounds or so.
if de la hoya lose, its still easy to sell his fight I would rate de la hoya's higher if he didnt moving up weight too much, cause later on he's only selling his name & face but he never look impressive He looks impressive early on his career beating smaller man like chavez , camacho, gatti, angel gonzalez... but later on, it kind of meh
You help make my point. You immediately brought up Tyson. ODLH got a media pass always. Even when he dressed in womens lingerie. He was never scrutinized the same way other fighters were. He was a media darling. It affected his accomplishments in close fights. There were several fights he should've lost, but didn't due to the power brokers in boxing and media. Had they covered the "alleged" incidents with the same furvor they covered others, perhaps he wouldn't be the "GOLDEN BOY" and one of the most powerful playa's in the game. That's all I'm saying. Report both sides of everyone and let the people decide who to support.
Compared to modern cherry-picking fighters who are worried about their legacy, he was a warrior. Unless you're the undisupted heavyweight champ, if you only have a couple losses, you haven't challenged yourself enough. But compared to old school fighters he was soft as hell. Crappy finisher.
DLH fans will always pointing the bout against tito where he was robbed, but what about felix sturm? that was ridiculous
No disrespect to De La Hoya, I think he is a great fighter. However, I am pretty sure he took the fight with Pacquiao expecting that he would be able to muscle the MUCH smaller man. I don't think De La Hoya took the fight out of "courage" I am pretty sure he thought it was a high profile, yet safe, match. Remember, back before the match took place, no one gave Pacquiao a chance. Everyone thought it was a mismatch...
Actually i thought his combinations were pretty. A mix of great hand speed and big power more so at the lighter weights but he still punched hard even at JM.
What I'm seeing from this is something like "See, my own opinion proves my opinion! Get it?" This content is protected
like him or not you must admit DLH couldve fought anyone he wanted and been rich/famous and he CHOSE to consistently fight tough opponents he couldve (and did) lose to, how many others have done that.
Dela Hoya's resume is high quality, and based on that alone, you can easily say he was really a hell of a fighter.
