Leading up to the fight, Abraham and his camp discussed their plans to unveil a "secret punch" in the Dirrell fight. Am not sure what that was supposed to mean.
Nine times out of ten when a fighter or trainer talks about having a secret plan or secret punch or blah blah blah, the english translation would read, "We don't have a ****ing clue how to fight this guy."
You have to hand it to him though, he's very original. Most boxers who have spoken about creating a secret punch have never even considered using one for people on a knee. In a way he really did invent a new punch, as he had to angle it downward and sweep it across. He should call it 'Farmer Wielding Scythe In A Field'. Far more trusty than Manilla Ice or the Anchor Punch. It only works when the other guy takes a knee, but it still works, damnit.
Actually, there was a 'secret' punch. It was supposed to be a straight to the chest. If you remember, at the beginning AA was jabbing there. I think he wasted two/three rounds before aboding the tactic (and body work in general). Here is the article - you need to look at the picture or translate it via google (it's rubbish and not worth it though). http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/mehr-.../plant-gegen-dirrell-den-kurzschluss-k-o.html
