Tha just goes to show how smart he is. He takes on a legit challenge in Calzaghe, barely loses, and people don't get on his case much because he's old. He then handpicks a guy two divsions below him who is nowhere near as talented as him. The only thing this fighter has going for him is his youth and his power. His power though is a question mark because he's going up two divisions. Because Hopkins looked old against Calzaghe, everyone assumes Pavlik will knock him out. That of course doesn't happen and he's universally praised. Hopkins is a master of lowering people's expectations of him. This is his first non-tuneup fight since the first Taylor fight that he is fully expected to win. That's how you get props, fighting guys people expect you to lose to.

    Good stuff. :thumbsup
Like i've said before, I'd happily sit here and listen to a trainer who speaks the truth in terms of the opponents ability. He doesn't just come out and say we have too much for this guy and we will knock him out, early, late, etc. Obviously he knows his boxers capabilities and will believe his boxer can and will win, but he has the respect not to get dragged into all that prediction rubbish, he leaves that to the boxers themselves. I like Roach as a trainer, but he could learn a few things from Richardson.

That's the situation he's in and people will always bring up his age regardless of outcome even if he wins. Whether you consider his next opponent good or not is your personal choice and I don't think ANYONE sane would criticize anything Hopkins does. From 2006 to 2008 he had 4 fights all against top opponents going in as a heavy underdog and came out victorious in 3 with the only loss being a close one as well despite his age, what can you complain about?

believe me i give him credit for his wins, but when he loses i also flame him.

i remember people discrediting taylor here because hopkins was old, they didn't give taylor the dues he deserved.

Chosen for him is the right term. Had he have a choice, it would have been another 140 lber going up...

But in any case, he signed the fight, all that matters.

When did I say what he said was original?

The *****'s biggest rebuttal against people who dont appreciate Floyd's style or find him boring is "you dont know boxing", "you dont know what the Sweet Science is about". Which is utter BS, could it be that people just genuinely find him boring?

Sure people will bring up his ppv numbers, but thats because he is a great self promoter. You can sell a **** car to a customer, that doesn't mean the customer is gonna appreciate the car just because he bought it. Floyd dupes people into watching his fight, "oh im gonna knock him out", "oh its gonna be a war". He says those things because if he said what he will really do in the ring "oh im gonna using ring generalship, put the sweet science on display, throw 400 punches over 12 rounds running around the ring and win by points", its not gonna sell. OK it will sell, but not as well.

So you see, even Floyd, by the way he promotes his fights, agrees with his biggest critics that people generally wanna see action packed fights, thats why he portrays thats what the fight will be like before the fight.

Now all I said originally was basically, *****s like to call people who find FLoyd boring in the ring as guys who "dont know boxing". Well Nazim Richardson certainly can't be accused of that, but we'll see, are the *****'s gonna jump on his case too and say "he doesnt know the sweet science"?

Thats something *******s like you constantly claim. In reality Floyd has never lied about what he plans to do in the ring. He makes it perfectly clear its not cool to take punishment, that he doesnt like getting into brawls because he wants to be of sound mind when he retires.

As the great Winky Wright said, "its called boxing, not knockouts"

But dont get it twisted, Floyd punishes opponents. Hattons punch resistance was never the same, and Nacho himself even said they couldnt fight Khan because Marquez was still recovering from the Floyd fight, months later.

Naz is just talking ****. Its easy to see that. If he wasnt talking ****, then why is he training B Hop who hasnt KO'd anyone since he fought Oscar De La Hoya, a light middleweight. Hop has a lower KO percentage then Floyd.

I think thats bull****. I clearly remember a few press conferences were he was saying **** like hes gonna "go after the guy" or "i hope this guy stands and trys to fight with me", "i stay in the pocket" ect.....

He said somthing to the effect before the baldomir fight if i remember correctly....

He needs to sell the fight, hes not gonna say, tune in guys, to watch me potshot my way to another championship :yep

Stop saying stupid **** like "*******s" say this or that.... EVERYONE says this about floyd, because its true, and one of the more irritating things about him....

Dont make up **** to protect your boy, it makes you look like a *****

He might have said that then, when he still needed to sell a fight, but then again, he was coming off a stoppage over Mitchell and a beating on Judah where he DID press the fight. He doesnt need to sell a fight anymore and lets it known what he plans to do. Watch the interview where he's talking **** about Nard, he clearly states his intentions for the fight and has let it be known that he plans to box smart from the outside.

And yet thats basically what he said when asked about his strategy to fight Mosley. You need to pay more attention to what Floyd actually says instead of what you hear from *******s. It clearly confuses you.

And btw, those "potshots" hurt. Judging by Baldomir, Hattons and Marquez' faces after their fights.

Nah its mostly *******s. Floyd fans appreciate boxing, style, and defense. I get up for a guy making a punch miss the same as I get up for a knockout. It takes a level of intelligence to appreciate that style though, brawlers do nothing for me. If I want a guy to go in their winging punches I can look up street fights on youtube. Maybe thats your thing, not mine or most people who enjoy boxing.

So if I find you evidence of him making such bold claims enroute to some of his most boring fights ever, will you leave this board forever? If not. STFU and listen for I know better :deal

The only people who are in danger of leaving this board forever are stupid punkass *******s like you once your man becomes dictator of the philipines or gets over his fear of taking another ass whooping at the hands of another counter puncher and fights Floyd.

Post anything you want, Floyd has made no qualms about his boxing style in his recent fights, and to you its not exciting, but I'd rather see my fighter slipping and ducking punches, not looking like a battered women at the end of his fights.
