Shane is a wild Mexican style slugger. His speed, combination punching, and skin color has long fooled many a boxing fan into thinking he's an intelligent boxer. He fought 48 rounds with Wright and Forrest and made only slightly better showings in the latter 24 rounds of both fights -- this shows a fighter who does NOT make real adjustments and simply fights his fight. This type of fighter will NEVER beat Floyd as Floyd will make his adjustments early in the fight, and Shane will continue to do his thing becoming progressively more frustrated.

You have a right to pick whoever you like -- but I sure hope you don't put money on it. Shane has no chance outside of a lucky punch which any fighter at any given time has.

He did have a good career pre-147.

 

He's actually put together a good post 147 career now as well. If he fights and beats Pacquiao that would make him a two time lineal champ at 147. He would've also collected the WBC, IBF, IBO belt once,and the Ring belt twice, as well as he would've beaten the WBO and WBA champs and beaten the WBC JMW champ. He would also have 3 HOFers on his resume(we'll discount JMM because of the size disparity) in his 147 & 154 career. That's not too bad.

 

Right, but by comparison I don't hold his 147 career in that high of a regard.

Possibly. But if that's the case, then it would've been basically impossible for him to have a resume from at 147 and 154 that measures up to his skill level. Everyone complains about him not fighting Margo and Cotto, but didn't those guys get destroyed by Mosley and Pacquiao? Clearly, it would've been better had he fought those two. But if he's fighting and beating guys that are clearly better than them, how much would've it really added to his resume? In the end, no matter what he does, people are always going to ask for more from Mayweather. He's an emencely talented fighter so I guess that's fair. All in all though, he's put together a pretty good resume.
