Ruiz vs Haye Upset Has A Very Live Chance

If Haye doesnt establish his jab, to set up his power shots, and if Ruiz gets close, I think Haye gets beaten.
I think Haye wins, as I think Ruiz is faded, but the jab is the key, and if Ruiz can jab with Haye, and then get close, Hayes not great inside, looks to tie himself, and Ruiz is the master at that ****. Ruiz is physically very very strong.

 

The difference between Valuev or Chagaev to Haye is speed. Speed kills just like RJJ made Ruiz look foolish before being knocked out by Tarver.

Ruiz is slow. Slow as a snail. This is all good when he's fighting Valuev (who is much slower even) and Chagaev (who isn't the white Tyson).

Haye is going to hit Ruiz hard and fast. You watch. These ideas of Ruiz even being competitive are going to look foolish sunday IMO.

 

I think Haye will destroy Ruiz. Ruiz is open for counters every time he throw the jab and Haye has a vicious counter right. Ruiz's chin is decent but it won't hold up to flush punches from a guy with the power Haye has.
Ruiz is a master spoiler but he hasn't realy fought anyone with explosive power since Tua.
Johnson and Golota had good power and managed to land on and hurt Ruiz but they lacked the handspeed to get through often enough to finish him off.
Haye doesn't have that problem. He will hurt Ruiz early and finish him within 4 rounds.

 

it's funny to fin myself pulling for haye.... but, it would be a good win for division and the fight with either Ks would be big and probably exciting (while it last).

It is nearly impossible to jab with a guy when he has an 8 inch reach advantage. You gotta be fast fast fast to do that. Ruiz isn't.

 

yeah Ruiz could win. That is what his career has been about, beating guys when he really shouldn't have. He is a guy who shouldn't have been champion as long or as much as he has. It proves how weak the division was, and how Ruiz never faced the creme of the crop guys like Lennox and Tua (rematch). Or the Klitchkos.

 

What I love most about boxing is that any one man can beat another on any given night regardless of experience, talent, size, etc. Though big upsets aren't a very common occurrence they can and do happen from time to time.

That said I believe that boxing fans give Ruiz way to much credit, and don't give Haye enough. John Ruiz is way past his prime and in his prime was never what I would consider an elite or top level fighter at least in terms of talent. He's one of those guys who gets lucky breaks just by hanging around long enough (especially in the WBA). None of Ruiz's recent opponents would suggest that he's faced anyone like Haye recently so I'm not so sure why fans elevate the talents of Ruiz. Adnan Serin, Nikolay Valuev,Jameel McCline, Otis Tisdale, Ruslan Chagaev, Nicolay Valuev, and James Toney, John's fights dating back to 2005. 3 wins and 4 losses if I'm correct which tells me not only is Ruiz not that great, he's on the far back end of his career and any skills he once had as a young man that might pose a threat to Haye are long gone at 38. Do people dispise Haye so much that they're willing to elevate his opponent, his skills, and his experience?

Despite looking poor in his last fight due in part to a broken hand, Haye's has every possible advantage vs. Ruiz. Youth, speed, reflexes, athleticism, and of course power all favor David Haye. Haye's a much better fighter than people give him credit for and is a very dangerous man in the ring. Ruiz was never that great to begin with and possesses only a fraction of the small talent he once had as a young man.

Like I said, part of what makes boxing great is the fact that anything can happen at any point in time during a fight but this fight is a complete mismatch and a joke in my opinion. It's possible that Ruiz pulls off an upset but highly unlikely. Is Ruiz Haye's "Buster Douglas"? I don't believe he is. If Haye walks away from this fight with anything but a dominating performance I'd be shocked. I predict a mid fight KO for Haye. Haye KO round 5-7.

 

This could end up either a hug fest or snoozefest, or both.

I don't think its a very live chance but rather more of a long shot especially if Haye's stamina gets pushed. I've taken the KO odds at 7/1 cause i don't see Ruiz getting a decision with his negative style on foreign soil and also I believe that if he's done enough to be ahead on points late in the fight then he should manage to get a stoppage.
