Vargas by KO. Too skilled, too powerful.

Prime Vargas could have given anyone a run for their money. Post Trinidad Vargas; not so much. Balance was gone, punch resistance was gone.

One has a close fight with Winky Wright at 154 that could go eather way in his 18th pro fight

One has one with Martinez (not knocking SM, hes a very good fighter, but hes no prime Winky eather)

One guy loses his first fight to Felix Trinidad

    The other to Carlos Quintana

And your calling Vargas the overated one?

And for people calling Vargas a 'come forward' fighter, if we are talking prime, early fernando, he was a lot of things besides a strict 'forward' fighter. In fact, he boxed circles around Campas.... and also relied on a lot of footwork and movement against Ike, choosing his moments to press forward and fight.

In fact, one of his 'names' given to him by announcers and media alike was precocious fernando vargas (playing on 'ferocious) because of his intelligent and mature boxer-puncher style and demeanor when in the ring. It was only after the tito fight did he start to become more of a slugger and flat footed against rivera and flores, and then after hoya, well.... pretty much a different career and fighter totally.

As for this matchup, the thing is, if Williams actually fought tall, i would give him the edge in this matchup. Williams has all the tools to win this fight if he fought smart... Williams problem, and what would be his undoing in this fight, is that he doesnt fight tall, he tries to smother his opponents and is often right there to be hit. Vargas would def use the ring against Williams, and have Williams walk right into his work... however, i think Williams workrate will be hard for Feroz to overcome, and with these two's hearts, this would be a FOTY type fight for sure.

I cant help but think Vargas would land the more effective, and harder punches, but would also be getting outworked, i think this fight goes to a decision and a close one at that. One in which Williams fans claim he was robbed should feroz win, and vargas fans claiming he was robbed should williams win.

For my own opinion I think Vargas is too good, too strong, and has too heavy hands to be beaten by Williams, until i see Williams improve a bit more on his weaknesses that is.

Agreed. Tito sort of ruined Vargas. This is why there are such wildly opposing views as to just how good or bad Vargas really was.

Williams by UD, With a Chance of Vargas by K.O.
(In other words If Williams is standing at the end of 12, It's his win)

    Too much activity.

Too many Margarito fans on this site. And by default, they would pick Vargas and any other Mexican to beat Paul , since Antonio couldn't do it, and then ran from the rematch.

Where my ni99a JM22 at??? Answer the thread fool!!!
