Khaosai Galaxy

I think Khaosai is fairly decent. He was basically a bomber though. He had good boxing skills but always seemed to be looking to bomb his opponent out at some point. His right hand work was fairly effective but it was mainly pawing and used to set up the left hand to get the KO. Not what I would call a 'one handed fighter' but he did seriously favour one hand.

He was also huge at the weight and very strong with an iron chin. And I do not think anyone at SFlyW could 'out fight' Khaosai due to his durability, strength and his power. However he could be quite mechanical and could be out maneuvered.

His brother is similar but much more fluid and asthetically pleasing. He throws better combinations and uses much more lateral movement and angles.

 

Kaosai was a great fighter and a close 2nd IMO to my avi as the greates JB.

He is vastly underrated here on ESB, but fortunately the "Thai Tyson" is well respected as one of the best little guys ever.

Every time i hear his name mentioned on ESB someone brings up his opposition, but bottom line he destroyed everybody put in front of him, The Thai Tyson was a destroyer and probably the biggest bomber and definitely the most physically strongest figter ever at JB.

 

His opposition was poor though, it is not exactly underrated opposition.

Who did he fight at Super Flyweight? What is his 5 best wins? How do they stack up against say Watanabe's, Roman's and Tapia's best wins?

 

Gpater summed him up well.Huge puncher, very strong, great accurate straight left and left uppercut, but right hand work not up to the same class.

Also slow footed and plodding.Average handspeed and generally a very one-paced and mechanical fighter...but undeniably a dangerous and effective pure puncher.

Without debating his style or inherent worth as a fighter, the main knock on him imo is that he barely fought any real quality challengers in the deepest era the division has had.Almost all the other champs around that period managed to fight at least a few quality opponents, even if like Watanabe their record is nothing to write home about overall either.

His best opp came in the form of a washed up Rafael Orono(previously a fine fighter, but his legs had clearly gone in the Galaxy bout and he didn't win another fight afterward), a blown up good small Flyweight Yong-Kang Kim and another dangerous puncher in Israel Contreras.

On the plus side he rarely struggled with the limited fighters he was knocking out.Only a few like matsumura gave him decent fights.Mediocre guys that were shared opponents with other top fighters like Moon were usually dispatched in similar fashion.

 

A good sum up of his career, just wanted to question the bit in bold.

His left hand seemed pretty qucik the way he would paw out a jab then BANG his straight left was on you in a flash.

 

I think it was more good timing on his straight punching than anything else.His hands didn't seem particularly quick by 115\118 standards imo.

 

Yeh I think you are right,, I just thought to myself maybe it was more of a sudden 'turn of the pace' between the pawing right hand and the straight and explosive left hand.

 

Yeh he is good to watch. Some don't like the Galaxy brother's mechanical styles but I really do like them. I think it is Rafeal Orono vs Khaosai Galaxy is an absoloute slugfest and really great to watch.

Also just seen the bit about about McAuley, been a while since I watched him but he was a gutsy and tidy operater. I do think Galaxy would give him a right battering though.
