andrade is a 168 and Lara is 154 they could meet at 160 if andrade wants to go down. but if u r looking for cuba vs mexico el perro angulo makes more sense
I think Angulo would be a great fight. Might even pick him to win this one. There is a big difference in class between Danny Parez and El Perro. Lara needs a bit more time before he's ready for this one.
Don't know why Tarver & crew was so critical all night... why would they assume Lara has one punch KO power - then criticize him all night for "not showing it"? It was Lara's most mature performance to date, the only thing I can imagine of Showtime's criticism is that they thought they found "their" Gamboa, but not watching Lara's available fights out their is no excuse for commentators. Lara is not Gamboa.
I thought he fought the right fight, Tarver didn't ko everyone he faced, now he is aking a guy with 10 fights to ko a 40 fights veteran that hasn't been ko, and has fought Margarito twice 1L 1D, gimme a break, Whitaker couldn't not break an egg and was praise all the time.
No I think most people in this thread have mis-interpreted Tarver's criticism. What he was really saying is that if Lara wants to be a superstar he needs to show more creativity in the ring. Its pretty clear the guy can crack well enough to get most people out if he could start adding more wrinkles to his game. Honest apperasal Lara looks magnificent for having only 11 fights but if he thinks he's such a phenom that he is talking about a title shot after 12 fights or something then what tarver is saying is that he'd better show something more special then just being a decent A level fighter.
but the thing is lara is not going to be a superstar so why where the so obssessed with lara showing them his mega star material he's not going to be that hes just going to be a solid champ that can give most of the people trouble if everything goes right
Yeah, fair point. But its his team talking him up. They are just pointing out disparities between what his people are saying and reality. Or at lest thats how I see it.
It's a bit early to make definitve statements about Lara, but I think he may always suffer from "the Winky Wright syndrome." In other words, he'll continue winning, beat hell out of some B+ guys like Winky did McKart, and register wins over some "A" level guys like Winky did with Mosely and Trinidad, but people who are not "purists" will still label him as boring.
I'll ask this, how many 10 fights proepect will be fighting Danny Perez in 11 fight? Or how many would fight Brewer on his 10 fight? do you think is easy to get Perez out of there? Ask Margarito. The kid may or not be a superstar, but he will give hell to any of the Superstars. I'm happy with all the fighters that had defected recently. PS.Not with YB.
I like what I saw in Lara. He's got power, but not necessarily ko power, but that's okay. He's got boxing abilities, and speed, and that can carry you a long way. By the way, he can ko boxers, but Perez last night has a great chin and punch resistance. I don't think Perez has ever been knocked down before in his whole career, if I remember correctly.
