Ruiz Earning Your Respect?

    Damn, after that 1st round demolition, anyone would have expected Ruiz to give up and take the payday.

    Instead, he's keeps coming forward, absorbing hard shots and looking for some way to beat a younger, stronger, faster fighter. Mucho respect.

    hell ya, hes taken some bombs and i have yet to see one major clinch from him.... good good effort by ruiz!

    Ruiz has always been a guy who had my respect. he's not an elite fighter, and his style is not the most pleasing, but he's been around for long time. Got brutally stopped early in his career by a huge puncher like Tua, and yet he went on to make something of himself. he's been in with some good fighters and always gave a respectable account of himself including tonight. He just never really had the talent to be elite.

    I always had respect for him. Beeing a Top contender for nearly one and a half decades with his limited ability and talent, winning a belt two times. Hell, I have tons of respect for the guy.

    Nobody should doubt Ruiz's heart...he absorbed a lot of punishment. And he didnt really clinch apart from trying to survive the 1st round...which you cant criticise him for cos any fighter in trouble would try n hold on to ride the storm. Haye's mobility may well have been a factor in this but still hats off to Ruiz. He should retire now. 38 is old enough and surely he cant think he's gonna get another shot at his age.

    I think Ruiz is very underrestimated. Let's not forget that he was more impressive against Valuev than Haye.

    He should definitely retire now. He's like Holyfield, a total overacheiver who has done more in this sport than 90% of fighters out there but its time to hang them up.

    He has heart but not skills to compete. He never had the skills and now you have to add his age to it. He shouldnt have been given so many chances. He hasnt even beaten anyone to get this chance. He gets titleshots after beating some bum just because he is John Ruiz.

    The man has SERIOUS heart. They dont come any tougher than John Ruiz, he would have continued to fight if given the chance and I also believe he would have made the final bell. My opinion of him has changed for the better no doubt :happy
