Just back from the Haye/Ruiz fight, my thoughts

Ruiz came in in good shape....in particular for a guy pushing 40. And much to my surprise, he engaged in almost NO grappling, wrestling or spoiling.

In fact, Haye spent virtually the entire fight going backwards, with Ruiz chasing him around the ring. Unfortunately for Ruiz, not only is he getting pretty old, but he never was a huge puncher, or a particularly fast HW, so he didn't land a lot on the very evasive Haye....who can duck and dive with the best of them.

But the big surprise to me was the lack of the famous "power" that Haye supposedly has. He must have landed 20 shots at full strength on Ruiz's head that Ruiz shook off and kept on coming forward.

Haye may be able to beat an old fighter who even at his peak was barely an A level fighter.....but from what I saw tonight, from the sixth row, with a very good view...........Wlad or Vitali would put a serious beat down on Haye.

In short, I think Haye talks a much better fight than he fights.

You should listen less to those idiot British commentators. I had never heard as much of ass kissing in my whole life as those guys were doing. The likes of Chambers, Arreola, even someone like Tony Thompson are better than the present version of Ruiz.

I know, it was comical at times. Every punch Haye threw would have knocked out every other heavyweight, except for the one he is currently fighting, Ruiz. LOL, Too Funny!

#1 Ruiz has good chin but nothing extraordinary. Golota put him down twice early in their fight.

#2 Ruiz is easy to hit, Wlad isnt. Ruiz doesnt have big power, Wlad does and Haye's chin isnt the best either.

#3 Ruiz is not even #20 HW in America. Klitschkoes are fighting real American contenders.

Being very generous calling them 'real american contenders' on recent performancers

Real American contenders that come into the fight to survive and have no real desire to even try and win any rounds. Doesnt really put the real american contenders in a good light really!

Even Haye's biggest doubters can't deny that he's the one with the best chance of stopping the Klitschko's heavyweight reign. I'm not saying they'll be easy fights or that Haye will even beat them, but he has the speed, skill and power to win, without a doubt!

I still give Povetkin and Solis a better chance to do it.

C'mon dude. Why did you have to ruin an otherwise reasonable post with the last point? At worst, Ruiz is the fourth best American HW.

I can't judge Solis, haven't seen enough of him. But Povetkin, NO WAY. He gets beat bad (and probably early) by Wlad.

Amen. My only wish was that Haye had brutally finished him off in the first. Instead we got to see Ruiz switch his act from faking low blows to overacting to force extra "rabbit punch" calls. Guess Haye didn't hit him close enough to the beltline for him to pull his usual move!
