Okay, so for the pureblood American fights it must be legal to headbutt (Holyfield, Ward) elbow and hold (Hopkins) hold and flail (Dirrell) and romance until they suffocate (Ruiz). And if you're a referee you are allowed to play opposite-day when home fighters are in play and deny all holding in one fight (Hatton - Mayweather, fair enough) but allow holding and much, much more in your next big event (Hopkins - Calzaghe).
