I don't totally agree. An illegal blow is an illegal blow. I've seen the damage rabbit punches can do first hand (was at the Benn-McClellan fight in 95). I'd rather see fighters penalized for that ****.

Also not all of Hayes rabbit punches were as a result of Ruiz turning his back. Ruiz was already on his way down when Haye threw one of em.

I did notice that. However, after watching it again... I believe that the ref was already ruling the knockdown... and then deducted a point from Haye as Haye hit Ruiz in the back of the head again after the ref was already coming in to rule the knockdown with Ruiz only being held up by the ropes. Although Haye did hit him in the back of the head to send him into the ropes as well... that was the ref's discretion. However, contrary to what other are saying... Ruiz did NOT turn his back on Haye. Haye pulled Ruiz off to the side from the clinch and swung behind his head. Either way... I think that actually helped Ruiz in this particular fight because it gave him some extra time to recover.

The first knockdown was not Ruiz' fault, and Haye was docked a point for it. The other times I did not see where Haye was in the wrong. There is two ways one could get hit in the back of the head, one is by turning your back to your oppenent and the other is by putting/ducking your head down low to avoid punches. Ruiz is a constant compainer. He did it against Golota when Andrew was beating him up and knocked him down and he did against Holyfield.

I hear what your saying, but it's contact sport. I boxed and played baseball competitively. Everytime I stepped into the ring or onto the field, I knew there was a chance I might be injured or hurt severely. It's the risk you take. Fouls happen in every contact sport. It's just part of the game.

na soon as someone goes down they start the count, its up to the ref to decide if it was a legit KD

Sorry, but the first KD was actually a standing 8 count as Ruiz was being held up by the ropes. The subsequent blow was judged illegal and Haye was docked a point.

I'm more than willing to be proved wrong. It was a good fight though. :good

the 1st one was legit the other 3 were sloppy. what im beging to think is Haye one punch power isn't all it's cracked out to be. Not hating as i find myself rooting for him. but his speed combined with his heavy hands seem to stun his opponets rather then put them to sleep i mean think about it. he dropped Ruiz with that str8 right but after that when he had slowed down a bit he had hit him with some bigger bombs flush and Ruiz was still standing. Look back at the Barret fight and he Knocks him down what 5 times but can't put him away? Now barret at that stage is not what he use to be and his chin has never been great. look as far back as the Mac fight . Stunned him but didn't put him out cold cold like he's been out in his last few fights. i would like to see Haye fight Thompson,Dimentrenko, chambers,Arreola Vs Ademek winner,or **** even Banks. Now i think thoughs would be good test for him at HW.

Roy Jones beat Ruiz easily when Ruiz was in his prime! Hopkins just beat Jones! Green knocked Jones out in the first round! Ruiz could not hurt Jones! LOL!Jones a former middleweight and Hopkins a former middleweight. Haye fans are now claiming that Ruiz was the greatest heavyweight of all time! LOL! Vitali and Vlad, which one will get Haye into a ring? I doubt if Haye will ever fight them, but if he does he will have his referee to protect him with his illegal blows. Ruiz has a right to file a legit protest for Haye's illegal blows. Remember, Golota was disqulifield for low blows. Abraham was disqualified for an illegal blow, but only one blow. Haye landed several illegal blows. Terry Norris lost his title because of an illegal blow behind the head just like Haye's illegal blows, but there was only one, Haye landed several.

Remember, Terry Norris lost his title by landing only one illegal blow behind the head. Ruiz could file a protest and win! However, I want Vitali to get Haye into a ring.

    Well said!!

Not usually, but the noise in a full house M.E.N Arena truly is incredible, so to ensure that the ref hears the time-keepers "Count" they decided to use the mic.

You are right, it was very loud, but can you imagine the chaos if the time-keeper could not be heard?

Didn't see the fight, but there have been plenty of times that I've seen the timekeeper start counting and be waved off by the ref. And yeah, in championship level fights or particularly loud arenas they often have mics, because then the ref doesn't have to try to hear them over the count or spot the timekeeper holding up figures from a backdrop of people jumping up and down/waste time in trying to see the timekeeper and be sure of the count.

It's amazing seeing people upset that Ruiz got roughed up... as if he hadn't been doing that for years to everyone else.
