What a disgrace. I broke down and watched this fight "at a friend's house," and it proved to be a mistake. The only good news is that neither man was hurt, but both guys looked horrific. Jones pathetically feinting and not throwing, Hopkins once again milking every minor infraction for its full time-allotted glory. Neither guy can beat a world class opponent at this point, and Hopkins is insane if he fights someone like Haye or Dawson. The Ring and every other ranking source must drop Hopkins from their PfP rankings immediately. Sad to see such great fighters in such a diminished state. Please, Roy and Bernard, retire.
That's some creative stuff you said I like that. From what Ive heard both fighters performed awfully I just hope they both retire because Hops still has his "never been kod" title and I don't ever want him to lose that so he should retire. I wish both of them can enjoy retirement in peace and never ever box in pro's again.
Totally agree. The 2002 versions of Hopkins and Jones would be shocked at the way they fought tonight. They were both so much better than this. I'm worried about the health of both and really hope they call it quits. Two Hall of Famers deserve to go out with dignity, and Hopkins in particular lowered himself.
You know Hopkins should've just let the loss against RJJ go and should've retired after Pavlik. Maybe it has kept him hungry all of these years but Hopkins' career would've been great with or without a RJJ rematch. Jones should've retired 7 years ago.
The saddest thing to me is that they both would have loved to make this an action fight. But neither guy could do it, so they just sat there and I'm sure were about as frustrated as we all were. This is not an old man's game. Both have money and both have a life ahead of them at home and with family. They should announce their retirements ASAP.
now even though hopkins beat jones on points... Does anyone think hopkins still actually have much left in the tank? this version of Jones is suppose to be beaten the way calzaghe and green's did
Hopkins looked awful. Slow, stiff, and totally without stamina. I've thought Dawson would beat him for a few years now, but now I think even someone like Cloud could do it. Bernard, please exit the sport with whatever dignity you have left. The acting gig is an insult to all the people who have supported you over the years.
I hate when legendary fighters who achieved all they can still fight on. It makes me sad to think about them fighting on when they clearly know their best days have past them.
