THIS GUY IS AN OVER RATED CHUMP! Right up there with the likes of joe calzaghe

    smaller fighters
oscar de la hoya = career 147'er
    tito trinidad = career 147'er
    winky wright = career 154'er
2nd roy = a shot ass bum that bhop waited 90 years to fight so he had any advantage he could find

    equal size fighters

    jermain taylor = lost x2
    joe calzaghe = lost
kelly pavlik = victory (at this point in career he really was fighting a smaller man.... a smaller bum really)

    signature wins
glen johnson = a victory based off a guy who beat roy jones... really caught roy jones at the right time
    antonio tarver= see above

I'm not even a big roy fan at all but see through the bull****.... before you point the finger at a floyd mayweather or joe calzaghe or anyone else who seemed like they did a bunch of cherry picking take a look at this guy.... he face could be in the dictionary for the treasonous act we know as cherry picking....

dude has 2 wins that are only labaled as "signature" because the people he beat caught a legend with home run punches

    SEE THROUGH THE BS!

before the **** show starts i'll try to throw something constructive in. this point has been made before, and fairly, but this is an oversimplification of his career.

if you're going to break his resume down he had at the least a long, effecient and dominate reign at middleweight, a brilliant win against a great in Trinidad, a tremendous win against the legitimate and near prime light heavy champion in Tarver and a surprise victory against heavily favoured Pavlik (no matter the weight). You made some solid points and i can't disagree with it all but it seems pretty selective in what you are considering.

Neither Hopkins nor Calzaghe are chumps. They're both dicks but neither of them were anything other than elite fighters. Epic fail.

Hopkins is legit. You cannot beat the wide range of top fighters with different style and in all those years he did without being great. He has handpicked the last few years and with Roy Jones the handpicking is becoming more evident, but his whole career is great. Roy was greater I think. The best Roy vs. the best Hopkins and Roy wins easily.

Hopkins is a truly skilled boxer, but a bitter old man who does not cherish his renowned status, in fact.. he's about to throw it in the bin, this is not the first time he's crying like a baby after being fouled back.

He should be sucking on medias and more importantly THE RINGs dick, as they're working hard to sell the bitter old mans pathetic bouts.

20 mandatory defenses against who?!?!!?! The guy who works at the local deli making baloni sandwhiches, back yard wrestlers, guys who dress up as santa during christmas time, and a couple taxi drivers

f*** his 20 defenses.... check the record.... he was fighting no name bum scrubs

and don't give me this great win against trinidad.. I don't care who trinidad fought prior to his fight against bhop.... the dude had no business at the weight

the tarver win was ok...but still who the f*** is tarver with out roy jones? this guy got lucky and through a home run shot and destroyed a legend..... roy should have never took the rematch in the first place... TARVER LOST!

and same with pavlik... MORE SMOKE & MIRRORS! every one thought bhop was going to get slaughtered because he was coming off that joe C lost...

    SURPRISE SURPRISE!

pavlik is a one dimensional bum who also got his name off a paper champ (jermain taylor) who also got HIS NAME off another paper champ ....

    BERNARD HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if hopkins was truly real he would have moved up & faced some real fighters earlier in his career like manny pacquiao & floyd mayweather..

you CANNOT discount a fighter who moves up and weight and proves their true skill.... bhops BIGGEST wins are against smaller men... his other relevant wins are against OVER RATED MEN..

    and what a coincidence

his losses are to men who ARE HIS OWN SIZE!!!.

    really now?

    what was inaccurate?

kelly pavlik sucks....dude is a one trick pony

20 title defenses... against who? look at who he was fighting... none of these guys were **** before he caught them and none of them were **** after he caught them

tarver is his best win... and even that is questionable...if TARVER doesnt get lucky and catch roy jones NOBODY CARES about antonio tarver... he probably would have never fought bhop in the first place

ive broken down hopkins record as a title holder for all those years before and yes its pretty bad.... (will try to find the thread i started)
but saying he beat a smaller guy n Pavlik is wrong. hopkins fought for 20 years as a middlewweight...because he had moved up in weight doesnt make him naturally bigger. pavlik was even a half inch taller than hopkins, so i call BS on that one...they were 2 middleweights fighting at a catch weight.... trinidad you had a point with, not pav...hes no little guy

again you make some good points but tarver was legit, no matter what you say and the best light heavy in the world. trinidad was smaller but looked brilliant at 154 and spectacular in his one fight at 160. oscar was irrelevant, as was wright absolutely. 20 defenses is impressive, lots of champions faced lesser mandos. they weren't great fighters, barely good but the length of his reign is very good otherwise EVERYONE would have 20 defenses. i see where you're coming from and he's certainly overrated by some but he's a tremendous fighter and a top 50 ATG imo
