looking at the odds Pavlik is a pretty clear favorite to win this fight.

Apart from the fact that Martinez is a smaller guy who has a bunch of flaws, the biggest single problem is his attitude. Check it out.

Martinez has consistently stated that he will bust Pavlik up and knock him out. He has consistently predicted a KO in 8-10 rounds. Someone should inform Mr Martinez that Kelly Pavlik's opponents have only seen the 9th round 4 times in 37 fights. Only 2 fights went past 9 rounds, and those fights were not at 160. The last time an opponent finished on his feet at 160 was an 8 rounder in January 2004 in a fight where KP was specifically told to put in rounds.

Pavlik, on the other hand, is talking common sense and logic. Based on a couple interviews, and the bits and scraps of info that have come out of the Pavlik camp, KP is ready to fight 12 hard rounds if he needs to, and his break down of Sergio's style, strengths, weaknesses, et, makes perfect sense.

So, one guy makes sense, but the other is talking utter nonsense. Whenever that happens, I have to think the guy who is talking bull**** is about to get beat up.

I've got Pavlik on this one but Martinez is no pushover. This is definitely not a mismatch, IMO.

The question is not so much whether Pavlik will win or not or whether it will be by stoppage. Very likely, he will win, probably by stoppage in the last rounds when Martinez runs out of gas and is starting to ship some straight rights.

The real question is how Pavlik will look during those early rounds when Martinez is not tired. Martinez will use angles, he will use footwork to get in and out, he will duck shots using upper-body movement, he will time Pavlik and counter-punch him, he will change rhythm and use the ring well. It should show us how good Pavlik is these days, and how he might fare against a top technical SMW like Bute, Ward and Dirrell.

I think it will be a good fight if Martinez is well prepared and motivated and if he still has enough left in the tank. I think Martinez could well win 3-4 rounds too, and maybe even score a knock down.

You know, I have to think Sergio is just talking. I mean, he strikes me as a savvy customer. I find it hard to believe he isn't just making the best out of the highest profile fight he'll probably ever have. This guy spent how long in obscurity to the majority and now he's getting some big stuff thanks to his fight with Williams and Cintron and finally grabbing a strap at 154. This is probably as big as it'll get for him. Sounds like just generating buzz to me.

You might be right, and I said it myself in the past. Sergio may be just talking smack and trying to hype the fight.

However, if he comes in thinking he can brawl with Pavlik the way he did with Williams, he's ****ed. At this point my best guess is that Martinez will come in thinking that if he can avoid the 1-2, he's home free. However, that's just not the case. Martinez can't afford to get hit with lead rights, uppercuts, or that wicked left hook. In addition, this guy cannot withstand Pavlik's body attack. The bad news is that if he wants to win 7 rounds, he has to put himslef in harms way.

I don't care about your ****in analysis! There should be a rule to ban pricks like you for what you wrote on that thread title.

****in disgusting and disrespectful to men who have died as a result of their injuries.

PS Unlucky because myself and many others think Martinez will knock the **** out of Pavlik.
