 i think it has more to do with him being a loud mouthed, punk ass *****. if he had actually fought one of the klitschko's instead of just making this huge ****in deal about how he's going to whoop both of them and bitching out of both fights, maybe he would have already gotten KO'd by one of them and no one would be talking about him anymore.

It is a lot easier to get some hype behind a fighter who will actually step up to the plate and fight a klitschko. Its hard to get behind a guy that talks a big game then runs when it comes time to back it up. As haye did

Haye is the ****. I have to admitt his mouth gets a bit annoying. In the lead up to this fight though he didn't bother with it at all because he pretty much knew mouthing off Ruiz wasn't goign to have the deisred affect. So I'll give him the benifit of the doubt in assuming he only does that to wined up his opponent.

Now, If Haye was american he'd be a multi-baggillionair by know. I mean he's a flash heavyweight knockout artist. Which is exactly what they have been looking for since Tyson retired. I mean the guy is a glorrified Zab Judah but shiot Jab can always get a pay day Haye would get plenty.

it always takes awhile until the americans do accept that they`re not the No 1, be it in sports, arts, culture or whatsoever.

let haye beat up another 2-3 US heavyweights and it will sound different.

I disagree. People are sensible, knowleadgeable and objective enough to see things as they are.

Are you saying that people get behind an athlete from their own country? That explains the Olympics, World Cup, etc. Never thought of it that way. What an epiphany.

Give it time, he's still new to the division. We're just watching him and seeing what happens. So far so good, but to call a new fighter the best of the division when he just entered is ridiculous. He's great, as an American my favorite of the heavies, but ****, I'm realistic. He has to defeat at least one Klitchko to earn that title.

Just look at Lennox Lewis...how long did it take for the americans to finally accept he was the best around? Some still wont accept it. Thats how many of them are...but other countries are often the same.

With regard to Haye's mouth, I can understand how many wont like him for that - but surely those same people cant say Toney is great when he's the undisputed smack talker in the world. Haye compared is positively mild.

you got to be kidding. Haye will be a pretender at heavyweight until he steps in with a klitschko. only then will we know what kind of artist he really is.

got to agree with the op. in a thread not long back loads of americans didn't even have haye in their top25 p4p but were quite happy to put ward and dirrell in there. they are brainwashed by hbo and ring magazine.

Pretty silly isn't it? People are naturally going to root for their own countrymen.

Frankly I think this shows a serious inferiority complex on the part of the Brits. This has nothing to do with Haye being American or British or Zambian, it has to do with the fact that he just hasn't looked great at heavy and balked at both attempts to fight the Klitschkos.

Floyd Mayweather is a prime example.

Haye hasn't really fought in front of an American audience. As soon as he does and keeps it as exciting as he has been then he'll get fans.
