Less Than 24 Hours Before Sergio Martinez Leaves The Ring On a Stretcher.

I like Martinez, he made a fan out of me after the Cintron and Williams fights. The title of the tread is tasteless, and I don't want to see any boxer get seriously hurt. I think Pavlik will beat Martinez, because of the way he holds his hands low, and once he slows down later in the fight, Pavlik would get to him. You never know though, because Martinez has talent, and if he worked on his stamina a little, and tightens up his defense a bit, things could get interesting.

 

I've got Martinez in this one. Hopkins showed that Pavlik has trouble dealing with lateral movement. Martinez is all about lateral movement as well as being a southpaw. I think he will make Pavlik look very average. Kelly always has a chance to catch Martinez but I doubt it.

 

There are as many, or as few, comparisons to Martinez/Hopkins as there are to Margarito/Pavlik, which you made earlier. The other comparison you made, was to Pavlik and Williams, which is absurd.

Both guys have similarities, but they aren't carbon copies, no.

However, that's not to say that you can't look at their strengths and make judgements. We know Martinez has good movement and we know Hopkins' movement bothered Pavlik. Just because they aren't identical, it doesn't mean you can't assume that Martinez's movement won't bother Pavlik too.

 

Dont lik the thread title. I never want a fighter to leave in a stretcher. Personally i think martinez will outbox pavlik.

i think whether sergio gets ko'ed or not depends on how he chooses to fight... if he fights kelly the way he fought paul williams, he's gonna get stretched

My only concern is weight. Pavlik added some upper body muscle and he is starting to have that same 'look' AA had at his last days of MW during weigh ins.

 

Vic Darwhozit does it. Should he be banned from boxing for saying he will put an opponent in the hospital and then bragging about it later?
