Frans Both Corrie Sanders

I think Botha should probably be favored. Better stamina, more polished skills, good chin, and more proven against the upper tier of the division asside from Sander's one win against Wlad.. Corrie has a puncher's chance, but Botha is probably the better fighter.

I never realized that, and it may indeed have some bearing on the outcome.. I am not a big believer that losing to a fighter in the amateurs, guarantees the same outcome in the pros, but when the same verdict happened on multiple occasons as you say, there may be a psychological factor..

 

I agree with you about the pros vs amateurs comparison.. However, Tyson's losses to Tillman are probably not the best examples to use... For one thing Tyson was about 17 years old, whereas Tillman was around 21.. Botha and Sanders are fairly close to the same age... For another, Tyson's career amounted to be leagues better than Tillman's in the pros, but Sanders and Botha aren't really that far apart in terms of how things played out... Lastly, losing to someone twice, is still not as bad as losing 5-6 times. I'm wondering if Botha might have developed a complex that he simply couldn't beat Sanders, that may have followed him to the pros..

I've read 5/6times with some KOs, but it was on ESB from a Klithugger or 2 so take it with a pinch of salt. Someone was reckoning Botha ducked Sanders, I'd take that with a pinch of salt too.

However I do think Sanders is the better boxer and fighter of the 2

Its possible that Botha's people may have steared clear of him, feeling that maybe Corrie had his number. This is basically the story of Sander's life, as he was one of the most avoided fighters of the 90's. Also, it wasn't like Botha needed to go through Sanders and take a big risk to get to the big time anyway.. He rose up the rating rather quickley and was challenging for world titles, while Sanders was still facing journeyman and basically going nowhere...

 

The better fighter, far faster and by far the harder puncher, Sanders would brutakky ko Frans in round 3 or 4.
