Of course he's not interested. If he as much as pondered the fight out loud, he'd be the laughing stock of the sport.
hopkins wants 1 more fight before he retires, he wants that heavyweight title so when he is compared to roy jones he can say that i was the greatest middleweight of this era and I was a heavyweight champion. i don't think haye will give him the fight, if that doesn't come off he will go for the klitschko brothers. how many times have you people said hopkins was going to get a beating, you said it with trinidad, with tarver, and with pavlik. if hopkins gets haye then he will have a good chance, he is an expert boxer, the master of hitting and not getting hit. if he is able to take haye's punches then he will win, also hopkins is so good that he will stay out of the way and only give haye 1 or 2 opportunities to get off with the right, remember hopkins isn't ruis who has his hands low and follows you around. if that doesn't come off then he will go for the klitschko brothers, and he has a good chance to beat any of them. hopkins doesn't get the respect he deserves, stuped fans question his resume, some question his achievement of being the middleweight champion for over a decade. Hopkins Is In The Top Three Fighters Of This Decade Along With Pac And Mayweather!
So you think Hopkins could move around for 12 rounds without feining injury and rolling on the floor like a **** every 10 minutes? Did you see the Jones fight? He had to pretend to be hurt against someone who wasn't even throwing punches at him. One punch from either Klitschko or Haye and he's out cold. So you think he can move for 12 rounds, get in and land then get back against someone with a big reach advantage? You are ****ing deluded.
Hopkins is just a tremendous fighter and in my opinion, an underachiever, not overrated by any means if you consider who's up there with him in the p4p ratings. Happens that he will get a beating and put his health seriously at risk against any of these heavyweights but specially against the best, most devastating punchers such as Haye, Vitaly and Wladimir, Arreola and Adamek... Bernard should definitely rest and recover and then go for one of the guys people say he ducked such as Dawson or Bute and that would be it. He doesn't need to put weight and affect his supreme fitness ( look at what happened with Roy and even with Tarver and this last for a fuggin movie)... I believe Bernard would have nothing to lose and everything to gain against either Bute or Dawson, but maybe he needs to work a little bit more on his stamina and endurance... And that would be it.
Supreme fitness? What supreme fitness? He has to roll around on the floor pretending to be hurt just to get a breather - and thats fighting against someone who isn't even throwing punches at him.
Man, r u gonna say Hopkins is not well conditioned for his age and long fighting career. That's what I was talking about, not stamina, not endurance, not even "pretending". Consider how Roy is muscled in his upper body ( and abs) and tell me if that is any good for him these days? Of course not cause he can't move, attack or dictate any pace. Bernard had to come on or else there would't be any fight!!! If you have problems with Hopkins himself, I suggest you to write to him, use Myspace or facebook, ok? Right...
Are you serious ? Haye would put Bernard in the hospital. And either Klit would put him in the Morgue. Did you see his performance against a shot Jones ? Bernard cannot fight more than six rounds against anyone who puts the least pressure on him. The current version of Bernard would lose to Ward, Dirrell, Kessler, and Dawson. The top HWts ? Get off the crack, lad !
So I disagree with your post so I should write to Hopkins? Ok You claimed he has supreme fitness, yet when forced to fight at a quicker pace against an ageing Calzaghe, he started the acting, looking to get a rest whenever he could because he couldn't hack the pace. That is not evidence of supreme fitness. Then you claim his is well conditioned for his age - well means that very little. If this conditioning leaves him looking for breaks and a way out of a fight against a completely shot fighter who is not throwing back, what good is it? I don't think he has any business in the ring with the younger fighters now, his body hasn't got it anymore and he could end up getting hurt. Everyone knows now all you have to do to hopkins is set off at a quick pace and not let him get his rests.
He needed numerous breathers to beat a very gun-shy and shot Roy Jones, say what you will BUT he NEEDED those rest breaks which he should NOT have gotten, He stands no chance against either Dawson or Haye.
hopkins is a clever fighter, he makes his opponent fight out of his gameplan, he wanted jones to come out and fight so he did that to make it a fight, but as soon as it got close jones chose to hold and hopkins didn't want that. one punch from haye or the klitschko's would knock him cold, i'm sure i heard the same when he fought trinidad and pavlik. hopkins isn't going to make it a great fight, he will get in land and then hold, no need to get back out.
so did i not see hopkins dismantle pavlik for 12 rounds, i'm sure i saw him under pressure there. the current hopkins beats anyone at 168 to 175. them pussys in the tournament would get a boxing lesson. ward, dirrel, kessler and the rest would be easy work for hopkins.
FFS he fights in spurts yet still NEEDS rest breaks, at 45 he is DONE. He shouldn't have had to do all that BS against Jones, Tarver, Johnson, and Calzaghe had no problems against a much better version of Jones. I repeat He is DONE.
jones was there to survive, hopkins wanted him to fight. once hopkins would get close jones would hold. hopkins is a sly fighter and decided to play some games, he wanted jones to open up, thats why he went down. tarver got jones at the right time, jones was on his way down from heavyweight and in the second fight he finished jones. johnson and calzaghe just took advantage of a shot jones. hopkins wanted jones name on his record, that was the purpose of the fight. what problems did hopkins have, calzaghe was dropped by a shot roy jones, hopkins was never once hurt. don't try to make out that calzaghe finished jones because he was finished a long time ago. hopkins still has the skill to be heavyweight champion, and he will, and prove all of you wrong...again.
Ha ha, you mean Trinidad who was coming UP from welterweight and Pavlik who was comin UP from middleweight? Haye and the Klitschko's currently outweigh Hopkins by about 70lbs! What a bull**** arguement. Okay, you're right - Hopkins is fit enough to keep moving for 12 rounds and get shots off without faking injuries to take a rest. He is also powerful enough to stop the naturally bigger men from just walking through his punches and his chin is good enough to take shots from guys naturally weighing at least 60lbs more than him. You've convinced me!
