I had 4 Fights and won them all when i was 17 AT 13
Stone. Then i stopped for a number of reasons. Im 21 now and ive blown up to 17 stone but its not muscle. Mainly mass on my legs , stomach and bum. Im 6 foot 4 by the way. Im making a comeback and i want to be a pro heavyweight. Im very fast for my size and have good defensive skills. I just need to get stronger . alot stronger. I can only bench 65kgs and think im going to get thrown about by these huge men. Any advice on gets alot stronger buy keeping my fast loose and elusive style?

Bench press does seem very low for someone your size but that doesn't matter. What can you squat and deadlift? Are you actually boxing at the moment?

Training your posterior chain i.e. squats and deadlifts is what translates into punching power and making you a lot more powerful overall.

What's your weight and body fat percentage? 15 stone of muscle takes a loooong time unless you've already got a decent amount of muscle.

Im 17 Stone and Ive got some Muscle on my arms and chest. Just no where near the size of other fighters my weight. Dont no my body fat percentage. I would say about 25%.

Don't view it as a trade off. "Hitting the weights" won't necessarily slow you down - you just have to train right and be patient.

I'd just go the boxing gym and do sprints inbetween to get fit first and see how it goes before you start hammering the weights, you may not need to as you think.

Film would definitely help us to gauge your chances... But if you are looking to get stronger I would focus on push-ups, pull-ups and core-strengthening exercises(hindu push-ups/squats, crunches, etc.) as bench press could cause you to get too bulky. I do however recommend squats, leg curls and other leg strenthening exercises as leg strength will be vital to generating punching power.

Good luck. Real strength is technique.

I think that some people just need a little reminder - size is primarily a by product of caloric intake... not 'hitting the weights, bench presses etc'.
