If two guys fought.... The first two and a half minutes are stand up and fighter A lands 10 punches on fighter B.... Then the second half of the round, fighter B takes fighter A down, doesn't land anything damaging, but has control of him on the ground, smothering him, attempting submissions etc.... Who wins that round? What's seen as better, controlling them with a dry hump on the floor or landing punches standing up?
i would say the guy that landed the shots clearly but its opinionated and i could see the dry humper winning the round on some judges scorecards. i dont like the lay n pray style as much as the next guy but if i shoot to take you down and you clearly want to stand and CANT stop my advancement that deserves some type of points right?
If a fighter wins a round in a fairly dominant fashion would you score the round 10-8 as you may in a boxing match. Also how often would judges score an even round ?
Sound like an even round to me, The wrestler would have to pass guard...keep active even if hes not landing punches. I really respect the BJJ and wrestling skills as much as i do striking....but you cant just be a blanket
To answer your question as succinctly: Poorly! ****ing judges need to take a ****ing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, for ****s sake! I swear they just learned last year that a guard was... Most have this old ******ed mentality of, "If you're on top, you must be winning!" WRONG!
Scoring is a matter of opinion. There never will be a winning way to fight. If you want a clean victory do what most MMA orgs look for - finish the fight! It is up to the fighter to execute his strategy in a way that appeals to all 3 judges.
