Abuse of PPV messed up boxing in America. Promoters (HBO included) only cared about making that extra money and would put anything on PPV without promoting fighters properly.

Klits compete with many many athletes in Germany for attention, like I said its a very succesfull nation when it comes to sport and they are not even German or that exiting - even you have to agree that is amazing going.

You are using Paq being from the very poor country of the Phillipines to try and prove your point, I am using the Klits as an example to disprove it.

Sad aint it, PPV numbers say nothing about a fighters following or worth, they say everything about how much HBO has decided to push/advertise a certain fight.

We had the Haye v Valuev PPV here in Britain and it made a fortune cos of the way Sky PPV pushed the whole David v Goliath giant killing thing.

Haye v Ruiz did probably half cos it just werent pushed in the same way.

I used the Kilstchko's as well. Their fights are on normal T.V. and not PPV. Boxing is surging in Germany where as in America it's no where near as popular as it used to be. We've had tons of great champions in this country for about 100 years now and the Europeans are just getting more of an identity in the sport than they've ever had. Wouldn't you think that has something to do with the popularity of boxers in Europe? Holyfield's fights with Valuev and Ibragimov sold over there and it wouldn't have a chance of selling over here.

Fact is, it's easier to sell in Europe than America.

Any numbers to back up what you say, or you just going to keep hiding behind "a forune", etc.?

Advertising does not make up the difference that Pay-Per-View sales does, otherwise there wouldn't be Pay-Per-View, just fights on television with advertising.

Secondly, if Boxing was dead in the U.S., how can Floyd make eight figure paydays?

Anyhow, you clearly don't understand what you're talking about, so I'm out of this discussion.

Boxing in America is only about making money now. They always sell the big punchers with great K.O. numbers and not really anything else. Bob Arum puts on those average or below average PPV cards and he could easily put those on regular television and would have a better chance of building his fighters by doing so. HBO PPV has gotten better over the last 2-3 years though.

No he wasn't. Hating Mayweather is fine. I could care less. That does not give me license to make up random crap or discredit legitimate accomplishment.

People who are labeled haters are the people who say that FMJ ducks fights and FMJ or has never faced a challenge. That is crap and makes you a Hater.

Or the people who say that FMJ "all of a sudden asked for blood testing knowing damned well he asked for it in the BEGINNING and Manny agreed then made up 101 excuses not to test. That is crap and makes you a *******.

Now if you want to say his taste in clothes or his trash talking is horrible? Knock yourself out.

Floyd is making big money cos of HBO PPV, the same PPV thats killing the sport for all the other decent fighters who earn chump change in comparison cos they arent shown or known to the public.

If Boxing was on free tv top fighters would earn so much from endorsements etc that PPV would not mean ****.

Come on man you have to agree with that at least.

    Adios, Good debating with you.

This is correct, two non Americans recently fought in front of more than 50,000 people, that around the same as what the Klitsckos pull in at attendence. Also the bigest money is still too be made in America, the Klitscko's were forced to stay in Germany because they could not make it in America, they would be fighting in America today if they had.

Hooch is right though. HBO is glorified "PPV" because it is not only on cable it is on expanded cable (pay channel).

The fact of the matter is that boxing is a mostly "blue collar" sport that is fed by poor athletes. It has basically disconnected itself from its talent pool and fan base.
