I'd say Billy Lyell is a likely opponent. Lyell has never shyed away from a tough opponent with the likes of Sylvester, Duddy, Kirkland, Martirosyan, Lopez on his resume. He is an awkward journeyman to fight too and would be an ideal opponent for Lemieux.

I am glad his team are moving him along nicely. Whoever the opponent may be, fighting, a world challenger will always give you great experience as a fighter.

I'm still not sold on him though. A very slick counter puncher could give him problems. A fight against someone like Craig McEwan would give us a good idea of how far this kid can go. He definitely is an exciting prospect. With his power he has a chance against anyone.

I'm sold on him as a legit fighter. I guess it depends what your expectations are. Right from the get go I knew he was never going to be an All Time Great. But he has a very entertaining style. He comes to fight and loves to throw bombs inside. I think if he's managed well he could very well end up on HBO within two years. As long as they don't get carried away and try to match him with a slick counter punchers he will give us a good show.

He'd make great fights with Duddy, Chavez, Vanda, etc...

He could probably pick up a belt if he fights a weak champion like Sylvester in a year or two.

His fight in June will be on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights. The people in the USA will finally be able to take a good look at him live.

I'm hoping for a Lemieux-Jacobs showdown down the line. But I'm guessing most promoters will try to keep their prospects far away from a puncher/brawler like Lemieux. Just not worth the risk.

Simon sounds about right. It could also be Randy Griffin. I hope it isn't Koji Sato. Gevor probably won't - he can make more money fighting in Germany, and he's close to getting another mandatory shot. Plus, frankly, I think Gevor would beat Lemieux right now.

Also, hasn't Lemieux moved up to 168? If that's the case, it could be someone like Gusmyr Perdomo or Ruben Acosta (who might have been the worst fighter I've ever seen get a title shot before).

GYM should also want to keep Lemieux away from Jacobs. I don't think Lemieux is ready to face a good outside boxer yet, and I'm not sure that will ever be a good style matchup for him. He can do really well against guys who come at him, but I can see him having problems with quick boxers who can move on the outside. To that end, Lyell might make sense, since it would give him practice against a middling fighter who tends to fight that way but who has no chance of hurting him and doesn't really have enough power to keep Lemieux off of him.

I've never seen Lemieux but it looks like he might be on ESPN this summer so that would be good. He has a glossy record and has beaten a few solid journeymen type fighters so far. He's being moved well and I'm hoping he takes a step up when he fights this summer.

He looks very entertaining. Very strong, punches hard. I think its more the fact he throws a ton of punches. His defence is not too bad for his style, could be worse.

Main problem I see with him is his movement is not the best. He sort of plods his opponents down and he doesn't really use an effective jab to make up for his lack of effective footwork. That's okay against these guys but against a good boxer/mover who comes with a disciplined gameplan it might be hard for him.
