I'm reading on here that Martinez will meet his maker and get his ass kicked in this fight? What the ****?

    In my opinion Martinez beat Williams who is;

    Equal in size to Pavlik
    Quicker than Pavlik
    More active than Pavlik
    A BETTER FIGHTER THAN PAVLIK

Martinez looked masterful against Williams and Kelly is so ABC that it is difficult to imagine him doing ANYTHING Martinez hasn't seen before. He'll get countered for fun all night long and it will look EASY! Pavlik is good but only against the strong and powerful - the quick and ellusive will always give him a NIGHTMARE!

    Martinez by lopsided decision!

Pavlik is a simple 1 2 guy. Martinez is a VERY underrated boxer who's been under the radar for too long. Martinez is going to box his head off.

Jermain Taylor was prety quick and Pavlik knocked him cold... and Martinez isn't as elusive as you might think. He has a great defensive flaw of keeping his hands low alongside his waist which means he can be hit and hit cleanly.

Pavlik's devastating power will be too much. I'm sure Martinez will make Pavlik look poor for a few rounds but eventually Pavlik will plough through him and KO him. You are underrating his power, work rate and chin. It's not all about skills. And Pavlik is much bigger than Martinez, they are not the same size.

    Style makes fights.

Kessler vs. Ward - Pavlik vs. Hopkins
Kessler vs. Calzaghe - Pavlik vs. Martinez

    :huh:huh

Punch him in the face until he falls over.

Now, how does Martinez, who is a light middleweight with a leaky defence and has never looked too hard to hit or to have a stellar jaw survive being punched in the face by a big hard hitting middleweight, without falling over.

Williams in 'equal in size to Pavlik' in the same way as he is 'equal in size' to Tomas Adamek. I'm not sure why he doesn't just go to heavyweight and clean up.

Because he's bigger and stronger than Williams. Pavlik has more power than Williams and isn't quite as easy to tag in my opinion. He's also stronger and more accurate with his punches. I think they will take their toll on Martinez eventually, who I expect to out-box Pavlik in spurts, but ultimately get worn down, particularly if he keeps both his hands low again.

To beat Pavlik you need to be a master of defence. Martinez is not. Pavlik too big, too strong, to powerfull. Late stoppage for Pavlik.

Indeed. Martinez had a miserable time evading the straight punches of Paul Williams and his hands almost never seemed to come up. Martinez just kept moving straight back. He got tagged over and over again. Pavlik is pretty handy with the narrow arrows himself, and he packs crippling power behind them. It's easy to see why Bruce Trampler wanted this.

Martinez should win this fight on styles, but he isn't elusive enough to avoid taking punches. When that happens, the size difference will come into play and he may just be too small.

I hope he wins though. Boxing needs a better champion than Pavlik, who has only disgraced boxing since becoming middle king.
