Didn't happen, as you know. Hatton had bigger fights, Witter never got himself in a position where he was either a mandatory contender or even the biggest fight out there. You have to make your own opportunities. Why did Hatton 'avoid' Witter? Guess for the same reasons that Mayweather, Tszyu, Cotto, Mosley, Mitchell, Pacquiao, Margarito and the other big names that fought at 140 or 147 in the same period 'avoided' him. Because he never made himself particularly relevant.

They should have fought ages ago, a British showdown, its what we wanted to see back then. Now it would be meaningless.

Hatton needs to decide and make an announcement, will he fight again or not? I donmt know why he is lacking miotivation. What more does he need to drive him other than a multi million dollar showdown with Marquez infront of 55 000 people in his hometown. If he cant get up for that then he wont get up for anythang.

On the fight I could see Hatton stopping him late on.

Witter was the first and last "elite" fighter I've seen fall over from throwing his own punch, yet some are saying Hatton is overglorified? I'll pick Hatton.

Goes back 10 years when both were promoted by Sports Network. Witter was unceremoniously dumped because he was seen as negative (though he went on a 14 fight KO streak since leaving FW and becoming a triple domestic champ under Hennessy) whereas Hatton was fed the silver spoon and 15 or so defences of the WBU making half a mil a time at the M.E.N. Warren deliberately steered Hatton away from Witter because Witter then was seen as a dangerous known quantity who offered little in the way of risk reward. Hatton though promised the British public the fight but reneged on this countless times citing pathetic excuses. Despite both becoming world champs the fight never happened because Hatton blatantly ducked him and denied us the best grudge match since Benn Eubank.

That's all good with hindsight. It's a pity Hatton didn't share the same belief.

He ignored a B-rate fighter because he was making his way to the top fighting massively popular, big name fights against Tszyu, Castillo, Mayweather, and Pac, all the while earning millions and millions of dollars.

    Just a guess.

Hatton dodged Witter no doubt about that, but he was the one laughing at him as his career sort of took off.Witter desparately needed that fight and Hatton didn`t,although he lied often enough about taking the fight. He didn`t need him then, prob doesn`t even need him now.
