I think he meant when he was going for the finish, and they were a little rushed and clumsy. If he had stayed back and threw another straight right on the incoming, desperate, still buzzed Ruiz I'd have been going back to my room by like 11.30.
Both his speed and power are top notch, no doubt about it. He does seem to fall asleep every now and then, though. Ruiz landed 2 or 3 right hands in a rather short period during the 4th round. Haye took them well, but he needs to be a bit sharper against Wlad. Still, he very much impressed me. No one has looked good against Ruiz since.... Tua? In 1997. Love him or hate him, Ruiz is very durable and that easy to hit. I'm going against the grain and say that i think he beats Vitali Klitschko at this point. I think Vitali has become somewhat "hittable". He's 38 years old, had several injuries and looked pretty bad against Johnson. Plus, he doesn't have the one-punch power to take out Haye early, like his brother does. Vice-versa, Haye also has to wear Vitali down because he has one hell of a chin and is harder to hit than Ruiz. But with the right gameplan, i think Haye can win a decision at this point.
Well i used to think he was a one trick pony. he is still essentialy a long range pot shotter but he times his distance well and his speed so far is keeping him where he is for now. There is a distance david cant fight at and he knows it, he is clever enough to use econimic movement to disguise this. he needs commended for his sheer nerve and for now is as good as it gets. I will reserve judgement on him until its over but tend to think whilst he impresses me I dont think he has the experience or expertise of the great champions. I do like that he used a jab against ruiz.
I also think he has a better shot against Vitali than Wlad. Wlad will pummel him with his jab and righthand hes just as quick as Haye.
Yeah, if Haye's lucky he can time it right, get an elderly Vitali first and (if he wins) by the time he gets round to Wladimir, Wlad will be old too. That's how a "great legacy" is built.
Good - good athleticism, timing and use of distance, decent quick side jab, reasonable radar Bad - **** STAMINA, a defense which consists of no guard and his chin in the air, Wings his clubbing punches, no compact punches, no left hook, no uppercut, no mid range or inside game, thinks hes a cross between Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather but doesnt come close
He does have a left hook. He does have a uppercut, and your last statement makes you sound like a baby boy.
Only if you count a long slow jab hook cross as a left hook, he cant throw it compact or across his body he has to load it up, or pivot off the right foot to throw it. I've never seen him uppercut, he always has nightmares when someone brings the fight to mid/close range and trys to run so he can get back to long range Would you prefer I say he has **** poor technique? He does try to unsuccessfully try to mimic Jones/Hamed/Mayweather make no mistake He'll get away with most of these faults against most HWs, against the Klits I doubt it. Theres a reason a shot Hopkins fancies his chances with Haye. 2003 Toney would **** any version of Haye
Imo Haye is style over substance. Yes, he is fast, yes he has power but both are nothing special considering the history of the division. He is athletic and has some skills but there were guys with better and well, there are even some who are at the moment. I don´t thinkg he is a Top5 hw at the moment. Both Klitschkos, Povetkin, Chagaev and Chambers are better than him. Solis, Boytsov, Peter, Arreola, Tua would beat him too I think. He brings some excitement to the division though.
Klitschkos - probably Povetkin - maybe Chagaev - not now hes past it Chambers - maybe but lacks power Solis - maybe, has the technique but a fat ass Arreola - no Tua - past it, and probably hasnt got the legs to land. Haye probably wins it on his bike but if Tua lands, lights out Peter - no hes **** and declining Boystov - no there are stronger 11 year olds
I'm talking about his followup attempts to end it in the first btw, not over the course of the full fight. If he kept composure it would have been an early night.
