Hopkins is punch drunk. He'll get destroyed, embarrassed, and mangled, but at least it'd probably get him out of the ring for good. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sORAvCv1Yj0[/ame] 0.51 - Multiple uppercuts 1.05 - Uppercut puts his man down...at close range, incidentally. 1.20-30 - More uppercuts 1.34 - Huge uppercut! Left hook in there too 3.07 - Huge uppercut! Knockdown as a result ...Well...seems he does have an uppercut.
Yes he did get a bit trigger happy, but then we would have been cheated out of a fairly entertaining scrap, and God knows ,the heavyweight division needs a few of them.
I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think Haye could beat most of these guys, certainly not Tua, Povetkin, Peter and Chambers. I also think Boystov will be better than him in a couple years.
He was great here, and stood his ground more. Ruiz is better than this guy but by how much. This guy was still ranked within the top 10.
Well I would love to see that fight. Peter punches hard as hell and has pretty fast hands himself. Arum is slowly working him back into shape, and in shape he is very dangerous.
Just wasn't active enough, imo. Had he been a little more active it would of been an easy shutout, that's my only complaint i have for that fight.
Fair enough but he hasnt used an uppercut recently, maybe because he didnt want to get into exchanges or leave his chin open. The shorter men Ive seen him against did give him nightmares on the inside at times Again I dont think much to his left hook, Valuev was begging to be left hooked and Haye just didnt have the right punch to land on him
So you were spouting **** about Haye having not watched much fights. All you'd have to do is type in David Haye in youtube to know that he's thrown plenty of uppercuts in his career. Come back to me when you've watched more of his stuff, and please, stop with this nonsense about thinking he's other fighters. It's ridiculous. He admits his own faults, he says he does get hit, and he might go down. Yes, he's said this in interviews pretty much. He isn't delusional.
Pure nuthuggery, he barely landed anything on Valuev in most rounds and ran and ran while Valuev was being aggressive and at times landing. Most of the rounds were very close because of this and could have gone either way. Seriously if it was the old days Haye would have rightfully had his purse withheld for not fighting, that was the worse case of running I've ever seen I did actually have Haye edging the decision, but would have been quite happy for him to have lost the decision after such a negative display
I've watched plenty of his fights but dont replay his fights and the most recent stick obviously in my momery. I dont rewatch his fights as much as you. In essence hes a basic jab/right hand fighter now and isnt comfortable using much else, maybe because hes taking less risks You're clearly a Haye knob jockey, who opens the flood banks when you hear criticism about him, which is evident from you're intial bias in the thread. I actually like David and I'll be rooting for him against the Klits if/when those fights happen but it doesnt but it doesnt mean I dont see his faults
You were proven wrong and I called you out on saying boyish **** like "He thinks he's Jones". Dude, Haye has been a Boxer most of his life. He was a good amateur. He didn't wake up one day and say, "I'm going to try and be Hamed, Jones, and Mayweather" all rolled into one. PP, you've always been a bit of **** and you are here again. Assuming I'm a Haye nuthugger simply because I produced video evidence to counteract some whimsical point you manufactured in your brain about him never throwing Uppercuts. Take it on the chin. I'll conclude in saying that anyone who scored the fight for Valuev knows nothing about Boxing.
The bottom line is David Haye needs to fight and beat a Klitschko. They are the benchmark of the division, and they are not held in the highest regard themselves because of their shortcomings. If he can thoroughly beat either one of them, I'll believe he can be a force in the division, but so far at heavyweight hes beaten two small guys both of which were past their best, and one giant that moves slower than old Foreman. Its really hard to evaluate the guy based off of that. There are plenty of contenders that would provide good evaluations and tests for Haye, but as of now, he remains one of the biggest enigma's as far as heavyweight champions go in a long time. His mouth and cocky demeanor just add to it. I'd love to see him fight a guy like Sam Peter or even James Toney (if he wont fight a Klitschko), one side of the spectrum to the other, but two live threats, one on the power side to answer questions about his chin and one on the technical side to answer questions how he could deal with a solid technician.
