That's not really a criticism, just a silly assessment. No need to even touch it.

“The first thing a professor will teach a pupil is to stand in position. He will teach him how to turn his toes out spread his feet so many inches apart, and will try to convince the young man that this position is the only correct one in the world. Now I consider that this is all simple rot. My advice is to stand in whatever way is best suited for your purpouse-whichever way you can hit your opponent the straightes hardes blow and avoid a return by getting away quickly”.

    John L Sullivan

I think that David Haye would probably agree with this sentiment.

He is an unorthodox and highly cerebral fighter. He typicaly out-thinks his opponent and makes them fight how he wants them to. Most of what he does is intended to lure his oponent into a trap one way or another.

His power is sick, and even a durable opponent is out of their comfort zone if they take a single punch or combination.

I also see certain weakneses. His stamina is clearly a problem as is his durability. He could also improve his game considerably by some fairly minor refinments of his punching technique.

Good post. He's exciting, and also very frustrating at times. He's got loads of talent and potential, though. I agree with Ricardo too. He needs to be less than 220 to try reserving his stamina and speed.

    You failed though. :D

See, he isn´t the most charismatic. Nor by far. He is a loudmouth and a trashtalker. That´s not the same as beeing charismatic. Wlad is far more charismatic than Haye, so is Valuev. Just as examples.

If you promise to knock somebody out and give them an exciting fight and than put on a performance that was even more dull and boring than Klitschko-Ibragimov than you should be ready to take some critic. Add to that that he was run close by a past prime circus attraction and your point is a bit ridiculous.

Well, if you are a boxrec warrior it probably does. You aren´t or at leas I thought so. Do you really think the Wlad of today is the same as the one who fought Sanders or even Purrity? He is far more defensive now, takes less risk, improved his defense, got over his stamina issues. Facot in Haye´s own stamina issues and Wlad rising in all of his losses every time and I doubt Haye would be able to finish him even if he has him hurt - aside of him having a hard time even landing.

Even after Jones I think Hopkins would make Haye look bad at times - before getting KOed.

Yes it is. What has Haye done to make you think that? Looking worse against Valuev than Ruiz, Chagaev or even Donald? Beating an old, past prime Ruiz? He hasn´t beaten one good, prime serious contender and you pick him to beat the best of the division? That´s a good indication for your hard on.

What credit does he deserve? For what? What success had he at hw? Look above. I strongly disagree. The only thing he deserves credit for is beeing the most exciting fighter today but that´s hardly something special these days.

    :nut :rofl

There's nothing charismatic about the robots known as Wlad, AKA Ivan Drago.

As Ari Gold would say, "Really? Really!?"

I'm not terribly impressed. While he has good qualities and is one of the top HWs out now in this weak era, he's too flawed and I don't like his chances at all against either of the Klitschkos.

He'll get picked apart by Wlad's jab and straight right hand. Haye's punch resistance and stamina aren't exactly too-notch. He sort of his that "big man" style of not throwing that many shots, using his size and range, and looking for big shots. However, against the Klitschkos, he's the smaller man, and Wladimir is excellent at controlling the range and distance. Haye shows too much of a tendency to be lazy with his defense/head movement and eat jabs. How's that going to play when he faces Wlad?

People often talk about Haye's speed being so great, but I don't see it being so spectacular. He has good speed, nothing great. While he is fast and powerful with his right hand but his combinations are sloppy and not fluid. The commentator said he was one of the fastest HWs since Ali (one writer said he was easily the fastest since prime Ali ) but his speed is overrated. Holyfield, Tubbs, Dokes, Morrison, Tyson, etc...all impress me more with their handspeed, since their speed wasn't all that limited to single shots.

He can definitely crack, as that first right hand hurt Ruiz, and it didn't appear to totally land on his chin. Watching the slow-mo replay, it looked like it partially hit his chin and then hit his shoulder/neck. Yet Ruiz was still as hurt as I've seen him in a long time. He might be able to bomb out Wladimir early, and I hope he does. But I wouldn't count on it, and I feel he might have to switch fairly drastically from his usual style of fighting in order to do so.

If Haye continues to pack on muscle, he's not really going to get over his shortcomings in terms of stamina. Guys at those weights can't do both, only genetic freaks like Manny Pacquiao can.

Anyway, Haye is exciting. He's got enough power to scare anyone, so I'll give him a punchers chance against the Klits. More than a punchers chance if I'm honest, but he's a clear underdog.

We do have a very different definition of charisma then.

I never got how somebody can think of Wlad as a robot. Perhaps it has to dow ith the media coverage he get´s here.

If Ruiz managed it ... I can see B-Hop getting Haye DQed.

Oh, yeah I forgot, for you Anglo-Americans charisma is the same as beeing a loudmouth. Sorry, I can´t see any charismatic on guys like Haye, Toney or Mayweather. Personally, I´m disgusted by their behaviour.

Clearly not. We'll leave it at that. I've pretty much clarified that I'm not a David Haye fan boy, there's only one fighter I'm a fan boy of and he was Mexican.

Well I should give him more credit since English isn't his main language. But let's be honest... there's nothing exciting about the Klitsckos in and out of the ring. And I know excitement isn't synonymous with charisma. To say Haye isn't charisma and that Wlad and Valuev have more charisma must come from some misplaced hate. It's beyond ludicrous. James Toney is a trash-talker with not much charisma. Haye has charisma. Wlad doesn't even seem to understand the concept of publicity, which makes it all more hilarious when Haye does things.

"What is next? A picture of my mother with her head cut off?" :rofl
