The reason Strike got rounded on wasn't because his points were unfair, it was the title of his thread which came across as unduly negative considering Haye had actually beaten Ruiz comprehensively. He admitted the thread title was a mistake in retrospect - when all you can be judged by online is what you write, you need to be 100% sure you say what you mean.
To the topic starter I get your point about Haye and his potential/flaws. One thing that annoys me about him, is that he's got bags of speed bags of power, that will get him out of trouble sometimes, but what I noticed, he's got a good jab! but he doesn't use it. He can make the night easier for himself if he did, and he could use that jab to set stuff up. Especially when he tries to finish his opponant off, he throws loopy shots, which don't always land clean. But if he straightened up his punches a bit more, like throw the jab, then let go that straight hard right, he can keep the range better against the pressure guys, and set up combinations better. He needs to stop leading off with the right hand, because a quick counter puncher will catch him. He needs to maybe work with Lennox Lewis, as he did the basics so well, and has beaten Vitali, he can learn from that. Notice when Haye was popping the jab he was landing it all the time! it's quick, with decent power behind it as well, it's not a Wlad jab, but it could be a pretty decent weapon. I feel your frustration though, cos the guy, has what it takes, loads of potential and natural ability. He just needs to polish up. I mean you can't knock the guy too much, he's done in 20 odd fights what many will never do, become a triple belt holder at one weight and become champ moving up and winning/defending another. So to this point he's done really well. But he needs to kick on now, just do that little bit extra, study the tape of himself in that fight and iron out the cracks. Maybe a little time with Roach at the wildcard may do him wonders, as that's what Roach does best. Take a guy with lots of talent, a rough diamond, smooth it out until it sparkles.
Good thread. To be honest I have been waiting far too long for a thread that puts my name alongside Messi and Haye. But fair play to both of them, they have had a great 12 months in their respective sports and have earnt their place alongside me.
