Lucian Bute vs. Edison Miranda

It will only happen there if Jerry Jones puts up a good guarantee. He might think he can 'sell' Kelly in Dallas.

 

I dont see how he would think Bute/Pavlik would sell in Texas. Bute would not sell anywhere in the USA like he does in Montreal. He is not known much here. He is getting some attention now, but only from real bug fight fans. He is so far from a 'household' name it is ridiculous. Kelly Pavlik is not much better. He no doubt has a name for himself, but really only in the boxing community outside of Ohio. If Kelly couldnt sell out a small venue in Youngstown, there is no way they are going to sell tickets in Dallas against a Romanian star out of Montreal.

It's too bad it is this way. If Pavlik fights Bute it will happen in Montreal. There is no way this fight can happen in the USA and come anywhere close to touching the ticket sale income that would happen in Montreal.

 

The way I see it is that Interbox wants to «use» a Pavlik fight to increase the attention and notoriety of Bute in the big US market. They could be ready to listen to less money generating options if a shure gain could be maid in esthablishing Bute south of the border. I doubt that Pavlik-Bute would do great in Dallas but I would consider MSG or even Atlantic City for a decent exposure. HBO are the ones pulling the strings for now on, so you never know....

 

Speculation. Margarito returns. Remember, the Pac fight was billed as 'The Event'. I think that is how Jerry Jones looks at it. The boxing is secondary. My brother lives in Texas and still feels like an outsider. Don't under estimate the redneck factor. One of my enduring memories of my Christmas visit to Texas to visit my brother was a couple that he works with stopped over on Christmas Eve to start their 'rounds' and it was about 10 AM. They were having Bloody Marys. My brother mentioned that he knew someone that liked to use dill pickle spears in their BM's. The guy looked at my brother and said, "It's awfully early in the morning to be having pickles". atsch

Apparently HBO wants to put Bute on the same telecast as Pascal-Dawson on August 14.

Pascal-Dawson in Montreal and Bute-TBA (Bika?) from Romania.

It is Bute's promoter job to look ahead. Bute is looking for Miranda.

It seems logical to me. I've always wondered how they thought that Bute could face the winner of Brinkley-Bika in July as both men face each other in May. August makes it possible. Dawson is invited by HBO to attend to Miranda-Bute. Pavlik and Dawson are in the target.
