I am German. I´d know if he is adopted or not. He is respected and liked here, probably more than anywhere else. But he is not seen as German but still as an Ukrainian. We do appreciate when somebody is good in what he is doing in any sport. When that person has some charisma he will be huge. Like Wlad. But keep on telling me how this works in Germany. I like laughing.
You sound like these grumpy old men who are so dissapointed with their lives that they have to rant about everything that´s going on.
Oh, yeah, charisma. Fighters dont have that. Ali maybe, but he was more like just a charming kid at his best. Got kind of boring and tiresome very quickly. Anyway, opinion on David Haye : He punches pretty good but why all this hype ? :huh I dont get it for a second. Well, maybe I do - Boxing standards have dropped so much that even these type of results can be hyped up to massive proportions.
And yet he must be amongst the most watched boxers in the world? A rising star in a deadish HW division. And, charisma Reading through this thread, it strikes me that it became quite bitter in places. I also notice that the guys who start modern threads in Classic tend to claim that they "can't post in general" becuase it's so awful. And yet this thread is comparable with a general thread. This often happens. Just a thought!
What does it really matter if people watch his fights and if Wlad keeps his fights in Germany. They get the HW champion fighting in their own backyard. Maybe Wlad shows you Germans something different... I don't know. I'm not saying the guy may not be likeable. Maybe it's a culture thing. Because it seems the Germans go to his fights and silently watch like they're watching an opera. Very quiet crowd. We do appreciate when somebody is good in what he is doing in any sport. When that person has some charisma he will be huge. Like Wlad. Look, Wlad is a bore. And you Germans have a silly idea of charisma if you think Wlad or Valuev are more charismatic than Haye. Lastly, I could be wrong about Wlad but he doesn't show this side that you go on about.
Kill yaself! But on that note... people are just willfully stubborn (no matter how wrong they are), whether that be in the general or classic section. In fact they may be more dogmatic in the classic section.
I think it is more entertaining than bitter here. unlike the general, i don't think anyone here is so influenced by their passions or so overly impressed with their own point of view as to take this too seriously.
I don't know. We've had more public apologies here than I can remember in General and i've definitely read more threats of violence and murder here than on General Or maybe I just filter them out in there now...does anyone remember Flabby Gut? Who was it he was arguing with again? And the whole thread up and vanished overnight because they were organising a knife fight? Tyson, I think.
Hmm. Never saw that thread. I think the mood here is generally more respectful, even when vociferously disagreeing. I certainly don't take the banter seriously except when well into my cups, and then only until the liquor wears off.
If Wlad is liked in that part of the world because he is well-mannered and ironic, then it means just that. That, to me, does not equate to charisma. That's just popularity plain and simple. He's the Heavyweight Champion now his name is bound to get exposure. But popularity does not always stem from charisma. Charisma is about mainstream appeal and neither Klitschko has shown that.
