I like the idea of doing it in Abu Dhabi.
The heavyweight championship of the world needs to be defended all around and not in the same two or three countries over and over again.

i went to the fight, the atmosphere was otu of this world... i personally couldnt believe it - unreal!!

as for dubai..their laws are to strict, us brits get to drunk & there would be a lot of arrests for such a high profile fight imo

Firstly it's a lot more than a few, and research has shown Muslims ate KFC before being Halal, and a large majority who didn't eat KFC before are not any more attracted to do so now it being Halal. Do you really think if there were protests about it KFC would still carry on with it? The fact is the British people on a whole don't give two shits if meat is Halal or not.

Once again my point is, the British culture has been very open to the Muslim community, however it is not the same when we are in their cultures, which is why I struggle to comprehend why a British fighter would want to take thousands of Brits to a Muslim country which we all know will end up in thousands of arrests and prison sentances.

You're right mate, Britain definitely has been very open to the Muslim community even with some of them (a small minority, to be fair) being disrespectful twats.

But you have to keep the following things in mind

1. There are hardly any Emirati muslims in the UK. The UAE doesn't take any more responsibility for Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Iraqi/North African/Turkish immigrants than anyone else. It only represents Emiratis, rather than Muslims as a whole.

2. The UAE has actually been quite good for Brits, despite two well-publicized cases. British people live a great life over there with the kinds of luxuries they couldn't imagine to afford back home. If you see the video I previously posted, they definitely party and enjoy themselves, so it's not like they're living under the Taliban.

3. At the end of the day the country has certain rules, even if we don't agree with them. I doubt the intention of the rules was to "disrespect British culture", and they won't exactly change their constitution just because two Brits ended up getting caught breaking them.

4. They blatantly won't make thousands of arrests. The event would be organized in a certain place, just like the parties are, where people can drink and do anything else they want to their heart's desire, away from public places (which is the only place they seem to have an issue with these things, and even then it happens very rarely).

 

Yeah I was clearly exaggerating by saying thousands, but its a terrible idea to take British fans into a muslim country because of the culture differences, but money is money.

I was never saying that the UAE is a bad place, I've been there many of times as I have family there, I was just saying that due to the strict culture I don't think its the best venue to hold the biggest british heavyweight fight in years.

With regards to the couple getting caught kissing, sending them to jail for kissing is ridiculous rules or no rules. In the UK when there's a lot of noise from Mosques (early in the morning and late at night) we don't call for noise pollution as we respect their culture even though it is not our own. So what I find really annoying is that the authorities in Dubai could not just give the Brits a slap on the wrist and a fine and educate them a bit more about the culture expectations of the UAE, because for all we know the Brit couple had no idea you couldn't kiss in Dubai.

 

I don't understand the concerns with a fight being held in the UAE?! 6 months ago England played Brazil in Qatar - there were no problems. If you're talking money its a great place to have a championship fight involving a British boxer, especially considering how many British expats there are living/working in the various emirate states. Wembley would obviously be a better venue for the majority of fans concerned, but a fight in the UAE would also be a success imo.
