Care to elaborate on how you think this will be possible since it does seem a bit at odds with the history of both fighters.

 

Nice interview. Some very interesting stuff. Like the sparring partner telling Kelly, just land because anything you land hurts. He was easily turning Kelly at the beginning of camp until Kelly adjusted. Kelly learned to take away the lead left the kid was using to emulate Martinez's lead left.

Don't say I didn't tell ya about the body work guys....:yep I just wish they archived these on line....

Kelly and Shane Mosely are two of the friendliest guys to spar with. They treat you as a friend, not hired help.... Throw that one in for Relentless...

 

I got a kick out of the one guy's explaination of the progress. "Had some success at first, now all I can do is try to stay out of his way!":yep

 

Every time I hear a sparring partner they are convinced they are better than they guy they are emulating.

Also interesting take on Pavlik/Bute. Pavlik/Abraham could have been you talking. :yep

 

Both the sparring partners may very well be better fighters than Espino. They are pretty high quality guys for sparring.

I really liked the way the one kid talked about KP putting the brakes on a Martinez type lead left, and the other talked about jumping in with a right hook. Those are Sergio's two best weapons, and it sounds like Pav is well prepared to deal with them.

 

Felt bad for the one. Has mandatory status and is getting jacked around. If he fights someone else to pay the bills he loses his mandatory status. These orgs suck big time.

 

People seem to forget that Martinez will be better prepared for Pavlik than he was for PW. Martinez also proved he could completely nullify a power-punching orthodox fighter in Cintron. Also, what experience does Pavlik have in dealing with a slick southpaw of Martinez's caliber?

You're entitled to your opinion, but Martinez is going to get dominated, beat up, and knocked out inside 8 rounds. He makes a very small middleweight, he has some major flaws, and he has very leaky defense. Guys like that rarely last more than 5 rounds with Pavlik. I'll give Martinez 8 rounds due to his speed and mobility. At the end of the day, Pavlik wins big, and looks good doing it.

 

Martinez by decision. Easy pick. And ESB poll has NEVER been wrong before. :-(
