Absolutely was. Not true at all. People seem to have lost sight of who Antonio Margarito not only is today but was before all of the controversy. The only real dominating victory he had over a top Welterweight prior to his win over Miguel Cotto was the two matches against Kermit Cintron. As it's now became apparent, beating the **** into Cintron is no indication of foul play. Cintron was quoted as saying, "nobody hits that hard" and people put a lot of stock in that...only for Cintron to then be stopped against Martinez. Antonio was getting beaten by Clottey until Joshua suffered a broken hand, and we all know he then lost a close but clear decision to Paul Williams. None of this occurred long before his victories over Golden Johnson, Kermit Cintron, and Miguel Cotto. Antonio was a good, strong, tough fighter at 147lbs, but he was never guilty of showing extraordinary one-punch power. If you take the time to watch Shane Mosley vs Antonio Margarito, the fight looked quite a lot like his fight with Cotto through five rounds, only Mosley was more disciplined, had a better defense than Cotto, and is widely regarded as the tougher of the two. Mosley put on a great performance, and I don't think there's much more to it. Refer to the above.
